Bleeding and swollen gums

Hello
I have been having issues with my gums from some years now. I had visited dentists in the past but they always put me on heavy antibiotics. I have had pregnancy gingivitis too. My gums look very swollen and they bleed very frequently. My mom had the same issue so I guess its genetic. I am scared to go to a dentist as the cleaning is very painful and antibiotics. Please suggest some remedies. Thanks
