urinary retention after TURP

My husband had a modified TURP procedure a month ago. He originally was supposed to have a stone removed however lots of blood in the bladder turned out to be prostate vessel hemmoraging & doctor performed modified TURP to fix. He was sent home unable to urinate on his own is is using intermittent catheter. His bladder was extremely large. Decompression yielded 2000cc. He has been able to urinate 100cc on his own occasionally. He was advised to use IC every 4 hours to retrain his bladder. He is concerned that his bladder is not working. Wondering if arnica is appropriate in his case. He is 66 years old.

Good to know that even without my advice, you have identified Arnica to help your husband. You may be aware that I was responsible to promote Arnica since 1996 and at age 85 I have proved that it is the Ultimate Remedy to help keep the ageing body in peak condition. I take a teaspoonful every night before bed and wake up refreshed without any ache or pain in my body.

I have treated many cases of post TURP trauma with Urine retention and frequent visits to the toilet. You will give him Arnica 6c in the Wet dose thrice daily and report his response in 24 hours.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

Do not use Coffee, Cola beverages, preserved foods like sausages, ham and bacon as they contain Saltpeter.

Thank you for the recommendation of arnica in the wet dose. My husband began using it yesterday & noticed that he had less pain in the peritoneal area. He was quite tired yesterday & wonders if the arnica was the reason. No change in his voiding. He continues using the catheter every 4 hours and has not voided on his own. He is concerned because the doctor told him that he has an extremely large bladder & its been a month since the procedure & he cannot void on his own. Shall we give the arnica more time?

I requested you to report progress in 24 hours and am glad to note that my therapy which has been dubbed “Joepathy” by the classical fraternity of Homeopaths, has worked again.

You can read more about Joepathy by visiting my website:

Your husband will continue with my therapy for as long as he feels that it is helping him and you can report his response as often as you wish as I get an alert from the ABC. You may like to know that Arnica is absolutely safe in use in the Wet dose.

You stated:
'He continues using the catheter every 4 hours and has not voided on his own.”

I cannot believe that he has a catheter permanently established in his bladder for a month as this is only for temporary use.

I wonder if his current problem was due to a surgical misadventure a month ago which was made worse by the corrective TURP procedure adopted which damaged the Neck of the Bladder which seems to be blocked and now requires the catheter to void urine.

Your Urologist’s report will provide more information.

Thank you for your response. According to his doctor there is no blockage of the neck of the bladder. The only reason for the TURP procedure which was a modified procedure was that he had necrotic prostate tissue which was removed to access the vessel on the prostate which was hemmorging. It is my understanding that the size of his bladder is the reason for not being able to void. It is also the reason that he is using the catheter every 4 hours to retrain or shrink the bladder so that it does not become overly extended. Do you have any recommendations specifically for the bladder? Thank you for your help.
