Need urgent help: exostosis
I need your urgent help....I will really appreciate if you can suggest a remedy for my problem....My 17 yr old son has been diagnosed with osteochondroma - exostosis. It is a benign bone growth around the left knee area - on the inner side below the left knee. There is no treatment in allopathy except surgery to remove the growth.
I saw the posts in the forum that combining CALC FLUOR, Hekla lava and Symphytum gives good results in treating this issue.
Can somebody take my son's case and recommend the remedies and dosage.....
Your help will be greatly appreciated......I will really appreciate a prompt response..

growth that stops when one is fully grown-' osteochondroma is an outgrowth of the growth plate and is made up of both bone and cartilage. As a child grows, an osteochondroma may grow larger, as well. Once a child has reached skeletal maturity, the osteochondroma typically stops growing, too.'
there would be no reason for surgery unless it causes pain or is putting pressure on a blood vessel. And they don't
know why this happens, but suspect it has to do with a particular gene.

Cal Flour 6x- 4 tabs once a day - these are the cell salt.
Heckla Lava 30c- mix 3 pills into a 500 ml bottle of water. Shake or hit the bottle around 6 times
before you take a dose. A dose in one capful- Have this 2 times a day half hour before or after meals.
Keep the bottle in the refrigerator. This treatment can take some time- to feel a difference.
Or simply have the surgery if it is causing pain- as that should take care of it.

Thanks for providing the remedy, Simone.
It is not painful, but it gets stiff. He is not able to jog either, so it is limiting his physical abilities. I am not in favor of surgery - there may be new growth, need to understand the risks etc. The orthopedic doctor did say that he thinks it has reached its maximum growth. Not sure how he can be so sure. He did ask us to get MRI done to be 100% sure that it is benign. What is your opinion- is it needed?
He thinks we should go for surgery as he is only 17.

I think it is a good idea to get the MRI. It gives a lot more detail.
Then I would take that MRI and get at least one more opinion from
another ortho surgeon.
A. You want to make sure of the diagnosis and the MRI will help confirm that.
B. I think if it is really what they say it is, then these things usually stop
growth when the skeleton reached full growth. He can still grow- so what
does that mean if he grows another 2 or 3 inches? ( in regard to surgery now)
The article was by a regular MD who is also a homeopath. She did a lot
of pathology microscopic bone examinations when she began her career.
She has a lot of elderly patients with Spine problems with exotosis.That prescription
worked on them after about a month they could do much more and it only got better-
She wanted everyone to go get an MRI after treatment, but due to feeling
better health ins was not going to pay for that- however I think one person
did and the exotosis were re-absorbed.

Do you know if this issue is because of too much calcium in the body? and is it because of Vitamin D deficiency?
I talked to a acupuncturist and she says acupuncture can help with the pain management for this issue......What do you advise? As it may take some time for homeopathy to show any effect, would it be OK to go to a acupuncture.
Also, is it possible that Symphytum may cause this issue?

From what I have read, they think it is a defect in a gene as the cause.
Yes, you can do acupuncture for pain relief.
I don't understand why you would be asking about that remedy-it is used
a lot for bone injury. Were you using that remedy and if so, for how long?

My son broke his left arm in June 2010. As per this forum's response to my query on what I could give him for faster healing, somebody suggested the following:
day 3 to day of cure
the following remedies thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours
10 drops of Symphytum Q
4 pellets of Calcarea Phosphorica 6x .
I am just trying to figure out what could have caused this, that is the reason I asked...
I was also reading that it is a hereditary gene defect but none of the parents have this defect, so not clear how he got it. It is just painful to see your child get something like this, which has no treatment. So, I am at a loss.
Also, the thought of MRI is scary.
How much time would it take before we see any results and realize the remedy is working.
I appreciate all your help and insight you can provide...

Hi- What was given for a broken arm was appropriate.
It would not cause any problems- they help bones to heal.
I don't think MRI's are scary, they are a real benefit due to the detailed
imaging that can then give proper diagnosis. Before these were
invented people could only get the right info thru having an
invasive biopsy.
If the remedy is working then you should see that there is more
freedom of movement in about 3 weeks time.
And actually if the diagnosis is correct, this is a one time thing that
stops doing anything after the skeleton stops growing. It can
be corrected easily with surgery and the problem will be over.
It would not cause any problems- they help bones to heal.

Hekla Lava should be given in 30C or 3X potency? Some places it says 3X is better acting. But I would like your advise on what would work in my case.

Is anything visible from outside of the body part affected or it is just shown by the report of Xray? If it is visible outside of the body with a bumpy area please give me a photo of the area. Otherwise give me a photocopy of the Xray plate and the report.

I have sent the X-Ray report.
He does have a bump which we can feel below the left knee on the inner side (between the legs). There is no pain generally and he is able to play and walk normally. If he presses the bump hard at a particular angle, it hurts a little. His knee gets stiff and locks up and he has to bend & unbend to release the lock. He does feel tender if we try to massage the area behind the knee. I do feel a slight inflammation behind the knee.
MRI appointment is next week. I can share the MRI report after that.

Need clarification on Hekla Lava...as per materia medica, it acts mainly on the jaws...will it work for the bones. Also, in the process of finding the remedy, talked to a local homeopath on the phone, and they said that Hekla Lava works only in glandular growths and not on bone growth.....Please advise. As it takes 1-2 weeks to get the remedies and lot of precious time is wasted....
Also, can you tell me what other possible medicines may be used, if Hekla lava doesn't work....so I can order them also.

I already advised you- that the MD homeopath used it for
many patients who had extra bone growth in their spine- along with
Cal Flour- they got better and went from housebound to
walking, gardening, driving etc bc hecla lava re-absorbs the
extra bone growth. It does not matter where it is.
Where are you located? if in usa you can get the remedies in
a couple days.
After you send the mri - to Dr. Showrav he may have some other
ideas after he sees this.
However I gave you what an MD has actually done in her practice
that works.

Thanks Dr. Showrav. Should I continue Hekla Lava 30C until I get Acid Fluor. And continue giving Calc Fluor 6x until I get 12x. I have Silicia 6x.....I am assuming I can give him that until I get 12X.

It will be better if u can collect the exact dosage of medicines and start with them. Bcs Biochemic medicines astonishingly works in a different way accordingly with their differ competencies.
Mention his food habit and taste to me.
At this moment u can just keep giving him Nux vomica 200c 2 drops twice a day at noon and night 30 min before meal for 2-3 days. It will help him if any kind of homeopathic or allopathic medicine causes this problem to him as a side effect.

I have ordered the medicines and it should be here by Monday.
Since last week, I have started him on 1 glass of green vegetable juice with mint, coriander, spinach, bitter gourd, ginger, betel leaves, bottle gourd and 1 glass of carrot juice. And non-sweet fruits like apples apricots. very less of other things. No milk products. somebody suggested to follow this diet.
In general, he likes all kind of fruits. Likes to eat some sweet (if nothing he will eat raisins) after dinner. His typical meal plan earlier was
milk & cereal in breakfast for school days; school days lunch is black beans, tortilla, cereal bar, 1 orange; dinner is fruits, sprouted green moong beans or cooked daal or any vegetable (spinach, bottle gourd etc.) with Chappati and plain curd/yogurt. He does like to have yogurt/curd with meals. Eggs he only takes 2 days a week on weekends, doesn't like during school days. 2 days a week, he will take chicken/turkey deli slices with 2 slices of bread & spinach leaves. generally has 2 glasses of milk on weekends and other days 1 or 2. His height is 5'11' and he is overweight and weighs 165 lbs. He used to jog earlier but with this problem and his school load, is only able to go to the gym 2-3 times a week.
Also, he is prone to hurting his ankle after playing basketball or football...So, it swells up...and after couple of days, it is fine...
And, when he was 5-6 years old, he had Lymes disease and Amoebasis.
Please let me know if you have other specific questions, which I didn't answer.

Silicea 3 tablets at noon and night 15 min after meal.
Calc Fluor 3 tablets at morn and evening 15 min after meal.
Acid Fluor 2 drops 3 times a day at morn, noon and night with half cup of water 30 min before meal for 5 days.
reply me here after 5 days from first day to introduce those medicines to the child.

Started him on Nux Vomica as suggested from Saturday. Arch of his left foot has started hurting since Saturday, especially, when he climbs stairs etc. And, when he bends, the knee is little more tender.
Should we just wait for the medicine you prescribed or do you think he needs to take something to address this.
