The ABC Homeopathy Forum

A quick look at Rhustox 30C

I present this scenario for the production and use of a common homeopathic treatment. The treatment is designed to relieve body aches, skin irritations and more.

Common remedy: Rhustox also known as Rhus Toxicodendron [1].
For us laymen, Toxicodendron is a genus of flowering plants from the sumac family which includes Poison Ivy and Poison Oak [2]. Members of this genus contain the allergen Urushiol [1, 2].

Homeopathic Remedy which may be purchased online: RhusTox 10ml Liquid or roughly 1/3 oz.

30C dosage strength [3]:
1C dilution 1:100
30C is a dilution by a factor of 100 thirty times over or 10^60 or 100^30 or
1:1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Liquid RhusTox Manufacturing and mass production for retail:
Assuming a high demand for purity I would hope that the base of our solution would be Milli-Q water where it has been filtered and deionized.
So let’s start on the smallest scale imaginable and that our “lab of choice” is hypothetically able to extract a mere Pico liter (1 billionth of a ml) of our active ingredient Urushiol (chemical found from poison ivy).
We would need 10^48ml of Milli-Q water OR 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000ml OR just a mere 10^45 (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) liters of water. For those of us that may relate better to a gallon of water, that is roughly 264,172,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons. This is far more water than is found on our planet which is a mere 326,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons [6].

“Water Memory” and Shelf life:
Taking into account Homeopathy’s theory of “water memory”, the shelf life of my remedy is likely 1 picosecond from the date of introduction and removal of a “foreign” substance such as Urushiol [4, 5].

The new Homeopathic Remedy:
Save some money and pour a glass of tap water. Perform the steps of Succussion (vigorously shaking in a prescribed manner) in accordance with the teachings of Samuel Hahnemann, the accepted leader/founder of “modern” Homeopathy. Enjoy the placebo effect. That glass of tap water is special. It did not cost fifteen dollars.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
That is hilarious Mr. Runell.
It is hard to fathom how otherwise intelligent human beings turn a blind eye to the obvious fantasy of homeopathy.

Yes, as you can see - homoeopathy is quite amazing, that such powerful effects can be seen from unbelievably dilute doses.

I am also constantly impressed by seeing cure happen every day in clinic from such medicines. Quite remarkable. If only orthodox medicine could take its blinkers off (and let go of its hunger for power and money of course).

By the way, just as a correction, potentized tap water is a completely different medicine than potentized poison ivy - will have different symptoms and cure different things. Might want to do your research a little better next time.

Evocationer I think you may have misunderstood. I am agreeing with Mr. Runell's assessment of homeopathy. It is just water there is nothing special about it. In fact the dilution formula presented by Mr. Runell is spot on. The stated dilutions listed on most homeopathic 'remedies' are impossible and there for are fantasy as well as meaningless

I was being sarcastic. Sceptics like yourself and Erunell come and go, while homoeopathy endures. You can attempt to reason it away all you like, but we have proven over and over again through almost 200 years that homoeopathy is powerful and creates dramatic results for patients. Otherwise it would not have endured for so long, and been practiced by so many medical doctors.

What always astounds me, is that people can continue to ignore how many doctors, nurses, psychologists (amongst many other distinguished professions) have been converted to, and continue to practice, homoeopathy. Do you really think they are all charlatans, despite having been sceptics themselves in the beginning? That seems to me to be the real stretch of credibility - that a medicine that does nothing, could possible attract so many educated, experienced medical professionals to it.

Instead of sitting around theorizing in your own head, perhaps you should go out into the world and visit those people, see what they do and what they have to say.

Greetings Evocationer,

I did not mention using tap water in this scenario to manufacture Rhustox at a 30C potency. What is recommended here is Milli-Q water; a highly filtered and deionized water.

The fact of the mater is that for even one dose diluted to 30c and to contain a single molecule of Urushiol is infinitesimal.

This is where the homeopathic theory of 'water memory' comes in. As I can easily argue, based on my quoted sources, the 'memory of water' is roughly one billionth of a second or one picosecond.

If you would argue otherwise, please cite a neutral source.

In addition if I believed in homeopath's version of 'water memory' I can easily argue that the molecules of H20 within my glass of tapwater are at the very least 4.5 billion years old and have come in contact with Urushiol at one time either in gas, liquid or solid form. That is unless we are now mass producing water by bonding 2 atoms of Hydrogen with an atom of Oxygen in a lab environment..

...so in the meantime, all I need to do is 'shake' my glass of tapwater, claim a 30C dilution rate, claim any given remedy.

This easily falls within Homeopathy's version of water memory and how something that is diluted by a factor of 10^60 and containing 1 part per 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 would somehow be scientifically possible.

So again, all I need to do is perform the steps of Succussion on my 4.5 billion year old tap water as prescribed by your dear leader and founder Samuel Hahnemann. Please feel free to review any of his works as modern homeopathy is based off of them.

Pro Tip:

Always read the full post on any given forum before pulling something out of context. This is especially important if you wish to criticize research with noted resources when you have no scientific basis nor references for your own claims.

Ah well you got me there, I didn't catch the sarcasm. I do not think that most folks that support homeopathy are charlatans. In fact I think they are for the most part well intentioned people that are just terribly misguided in their belief. As far as your assertion that I am theorizing in my head your off base. I am well aware of what homeopathy is and that very smart people fall for it everyday. That said there are more and more organizations condemning homeopathy all the time. the WHO has condemned homeopathy with this statement' Homeopathy does not protect people from, or treat diseases.

'Those of us working with the most rural and impoverished people of the world already struggle to deliver the medical help that is needed.

'When homeopathy stands in place of effective treatment, lives are lost.'
