Constitutional Remedy: How is it determined?

Being new to homeopathy, it's not clear just how one's constitutional remedy is determined. Is it primarily related to personality characteristics, physical attributes and other things that are part of a person whether in good or poor health. Or is it those things plus whatever illnesses/conditions one might be experiences in the present.

Any responses would be appreciated. And another question, do Remedy Finders such as the one here at ABC determine a person's constitutional remedy? Or the most likely as it ranks 10 remedies after someone goes through all its questions.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
If you can match a persons physicals and mentals with a remedy that is probably it.

A further point is that there is a hereditary element relating to the theory of Miasms, everyone is under the influence of inherited miasmatic influences.

Will, here is one person's opinion about how it works:

I think of the constitutionals as the person's "big picture". Potentially it can change over time, which is why Coleman's article discusses specifically children.

Here is another article that might help explain what constitutional practice is and why there might be a debate about it.
