Nat Phos 6x for 8 week old's reflux?

I have an 8 week old with silent reflux. Should I use Nat Phos 6xor something else? I would love some advice!

Here are the symptoms-

Body gets rigid when eating
Coughs a lot during eating
Sometimes gags and/or gasps for air
Eats every hour
Only fussy when he eats (particularly when eats right before a nap, not so fussy during after nap feedings)

He has never spit up until today. I gave him a 1/2 tablet nat phos 6x twice yesterday and it didn't seem to do too much but he was okay. I gave him a full tablet (dissolved in breast milk) today and vomited everything up. I don't know if a full tablet was too much or if I should be using something else.

I assume the symptoms you have posted are BEFORE giving Nat-P otherwise these won't be the true symptoms, rather the ones AFTER Nat-P and accordingly may cause my prescription to fail. Anyways.

Your remedy is: Calcarea Phosphorica 30c.

HOW TO TAKE THE REMEDY:
Please take two doses 12 hrs apart. Just two doses. Not daily.
Report back in 2 days with changes observed.

WHAT IS A DOSE FOR CHILDREN:
One dose is made by dissolving one pill of the remedy (or one drop, if you have liquid remedy) in half a glass of cooled, boiled water. Stir it and take one tea spoon from it.

TIME OF DOSE:
First dose: At night before sleeping.
Second dose: 12 hrs after the first dose.
Don’t take any more dose or any other remedy unless I tell you.

PRECAUTIONS:
If there is worsening of symptoms (called homeopathic aggravation) after the first dose, then don’t take the second dose.
Don’t take any other homeopathic remedy during this treatment.
Give a break of at least 10 minutes before eating/drinking anything before or after taking the remedy.
During the treatment, don’t eat anything which you have never had all your life.

HOMEOPATHIC AGGRAVATION
Sometimes the symptoms for which treatment is being done can worsen after taking the homeopathic remedy. This is homeopathic aggravation and a good sign. It usually dies down within 24-48 hrs. During this time you can use any non-medicinal means to keep yourself comfortable. If the aggravation seems excessive, you can use any & all means necessary (including taking allopathic medicines) to keep yourself comfortable. Keep your homeopath fully updated if this happens.

HOW TO GIVE FEEDBACK:
A good example of how to report your progress is by giving %age improvement for all your health problems e.g.
Headache: 30% better
Low energy level: 50% better
Anxiety: 40% better
Sadness: No change
Depression: Worse
And so on list all your complaints.

MOTHER’S DIET
If your child is breastfed then what you eat will have a huge effect on your baby’s health. If you eat foods which cause gas (e.g. cabbage, beans, cauliflower etc) then your baby will have gas too. Cut back on the foods which cause gas in you or your husband (because your baby may have acquired the genetic tendency of your husband to have gas & bloatedness). Eating a few fennel seeds will address infrequent gas & bloatedness, eating it in excess will cause constipation.

THE NAT-PHOS MISINFORMATION
Homeopathy works on “individualization” i.e. the remedy for GERD which will work on one child may not work on another. There are several remedies for GERD. A particular person is promoting Nat-Phos as THE remedy for curing GERD by selectively quoting parents benefiting from his Nat-Phos protocol. This is not only incorrect but totally against the principles of “individualization” in homeopathy. I am sure desperate parents would do anything to get the cure but blindly going for Nat-Phos is not the route as many have found the hard way. It’s a case of common sense & statistics. If you give Nat-Phos to 100 kids for GERD, some are bound to improve, it doesn’t mean that it’s THE remedy for GERD. Next time someone touts Nat-Phos as the remedy for GERD ask him the statistics first.

GENERAL INFO ABOUT HOMEOPATHIC PRESCRIBING:
If someone is giving several remedies, without waiting to see the effect of one remedy, then it is totally against the core principles of homeopathy. Such an approach is unlikely to give permanent cure, rather it may distort actual symptoms making subsequent cure even more difficult.

Couple of questions. How many oz of water do I dilute the pill in? And I am assuming I am giving the remedy to my baby, and not myself?

Thank you for taking the time to help. Also, are there remedys that can help with depression?

Cw212 9 years ago
You don't have to be accurate, half a cup or less of water is fine for dissolving it.

Fitness,

She asked about depression-

Yes CW there are-please give Fitness details about it and who it is for.

simone717 9 years ago
Yes the remedy is for the baby. You can post a new thread regarding depression, its very likely that it can be helped.

Sorry for the delay in response, but I am checking in.

We did the 2 doses. I'm not noticing any huge changes, but he seems to be doing okay. Since its silent reflux, its kind of hard to tell.

Where do I go from here?

Cw212 9 years ago
You must be kidding, right?

In the same sentence you are writing he is doing ok and not noticing changes?

fitness 9 years ago
ummmm... no. I'm not kidding. He is doing okay, but not great. He never had really bad reflux to begin with, I just could tell he was uncomfortable. It got better with the Nat Phos, so I stopped using it once he seemed better, and I can tell that his reflux is starting to bother him again. Also, the nat phos made him constipated, so I tried the stuff you told me to and he seems okay, but not great, about like he was before I gave it to him. A lot of people have babies that scream, I don't. I just have a baby whom I can tell is uncomfortable. Since he can't talk, I'm not sure how much its helping. He stills seems uncomfortable, but maybe not as bad, I'm not entirely sure, since his reflux is mild. I appreciate you help, but I would also appreciate a little bit of mutual respect.

I get annoyed when someone just chooses to silence for a month and then come back saying things are not good. It took a month to realize that things are not good?

I'm sure I speak for all the volunteers on this forum who spend their time in trying to help others and then people just disappear without the courtesy to acknowledge the help.

Having said that, I wish you & the baby well.

CW-

I think you are usa. There are two very experienced
women homeopaths ( they teach also) who will do
acute cases like reflux for $50 by phone and follow ups
are included.

They have worked with Moms and babies for decades
and one is also a nurse.

Google:

Mary Aspinwall ( Santa Barbara)

Lia Bello ( nurse homeopath New Mexico)

What good mother would leave her child suffering for a month, before trying anything else? Of course that's not what happened. His symptoms had totally disappeared, but then they started to return just recently.

I was out of town and then had company in town, so my apologies for not updating you.

Simone, Thank you. I will look into that.
