14 month with excema

Hi, I pray you will be able to help me out. My son is 14 months and he has had excema since he was 2 months. I have tried almost anything and everything to help him. He is in a lot of pain and wakes up at least 4 times due to itching. I saw a Naturopath but that did not change much either. He has a lot of food allergies as well. I am also still nursing, is there something that I can take that would help him?
thank you so much

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I have helped many cases of chronic Eczema with Arnica 30c which is best taken in the water dose as follows:

Get a 500ml bottle of Spring water from your supermarket.
Pour out about an inch from the top to keep space for the air in the bottle.
Insert 3 globules Arnica 30c into the bottle and cap it tightly.
Bang the bottle on your open palm or a cushion and ensure that the water bubbles with every bang. This is called succussion and is the secret of success in using the remedy. The remedy must be succussed at least 6 times before it is used.
Give your son 1 teaspoonful of the water which is now the remedy, twice daily. This should be given separately and not mixed with the food or milk.

I note that your son has many food allergies and it is up to you to identify and eliminate them.

Since you are nursing you may also take the same remedy that you will give your son. It will also help you in many ways.

Please post his response in a week.

I notice that I had prescribed the dose to be a teaspoonful to be taken twice daily.

This is the standard adult dose and it may be preferable in the case of your baby to start with a teaspoonful ONCE daily and watch for results.

It is very likely that his eczema condition will improve with the once daily dose but if it does not, we can then think of increasing the dose to twice daily.

Sorry to hear about your baby. Until a few weeks ago, I had the same problems with my 12 months old baby. Nothing (chinease herbs or homeopathic remedies) helped him. He has alot of allergies, which I eliminated, only thing that helps. Do you know what allergies your baby have? Is one milk? If yes, if I were you I would stop breastfeeding and get alternative such as Nutramigen.

I am interested to know if Joe's Arnica remedy helps. Joe suggested it to me a few months ago but never tried it. Good luck.

Thanks for your concern Linda, I do know about most of the allergies he has, we went to a Naturopath and she was able to help us out in detecting that. The thing is that he is allergic to a lot of things. I did consider to stop nursing him, but a homeopath said that might be very traumatic for my son as well. She also suggested that I eliminate everything from my diet that he is allergic to. As well I am going to start what Joe's Arnica remedy.I will definitly keep everyone posted.

in reply to Sajjad's questions
1.The site of the eczema.
Almost everywhere on his body
2.Is it dry.
Very dry, and because of his itching sometimes bleeding.
3.Is it moist.
It's not moist
4.Is there any itching.
THere is definitly a lot of itching
5.At what time the eczema is aggravated.
It could be anytime it is very unpredictable.Esp when we expose his skin, right away he starts scratching.
6.What is the colour of the skin.
The colour varies from place to place, some places are just red, some other places the skin looks dark and feels thick to the touch. And some places the skin feels very raw.
7.Does he scratches constantly.
Most of the time he is scratching, esp in water, after he wakes up, after he eats, after a diaper change, before he goes to sleep, while he is sleeping. We don't keep his bed very warm.
8.Is there any pus.
There isn't really any pus, but sometimes when he has scratched too much it feels like the skin is watery....
9. The eczema keeps moving, last week it was his feet and back, now it is his stomach, neck and thighs. There are very rare times when he does not have eczema somewhere on his body.

I appreciate it might be traumatic for the baby stop breastfeeding but the time will come when you stop it anyway. It was not difficult for my baby, you just have to do it gradually. When you give the bottle you are still close to your baby. Sorry for going on about it but I know what you're going through with your baby, and it is hell.

After finding out my baby was allegic to milk protein, I continued breastfeeding for 4 months (8 in total) I naturally stopped eating all dairy products. It was not easy as I love chocolate, cheeses, yoghurt and buttery pastries ect. I also live in a country where manufacturers use alot of milk in their products. I lost alot of weight. The point is that if you stop breastfeeding and get alternative milk you can concentrate on your baby's problem more effectively.

My baby's eczema has dissappeared now, only a bit left on one of his cheek.
One more point. Apart from food allergies, I recently found out my baby is allergic to dust, pets, pollen, and LATEX in rubber. I used to use latex dummies, and a rubber cup which had rubber handles. ~NO WONDER his hands and face was worst with eczema. Its now almost gone. I don't want to go on and on about my baby but I am just trying to give you hints, that your baby might be allergic to other things than food. For example, I noticed once that when my baby had been close to a dog in my friend's house, his back was totally covered with eczema after a few hours. It cleared the day after.

It takes time but when you know what is causing the eczema, you can easliy make it better for your baby.

Good luck with the Arnica.

NAZ 2005,
I studied the case of your child.Repertorize the case and came to the conclusion that your child needs Petroleum 30 c,5 drops in a little water thrice daily.

Linda, I don't mind you going on and on about your baby at all. I appreciate the input. You know what I'm going through.....
My son is also sensitive to dust, pets and carpets. And then there are certain things that would make him red right away but now he can tolerate it. LIke chicken stock rice. And he can't take most milk products but is very good with yogurt.
Did you get your son allergy tested? My doctor is telling me to do so and I am wondering what I should do.......

Joe I had a question, you said to put 3 globules of Arnica 30C in water, I have pellets of Arnica Montana, how many pellets do I put in ?

naz2005 last decade
Sorry one more question, Sajjad do I start the petroleum remedy instead of the Arnica?

I had my son allergy tested 3 times so far. He is allergic to the following food: Milk, peas, peanuts, carrot, banana, kiwi, avocado, tomato, wheat etc.

I had to insist on getting my GP to refer me to the hospital to see an determatologist. They are not very happy to take allergytests on babies as they normally grow out of the allegies. Crazy isn't it. If you don't take tests how do you know what is causing the ezcema.

You are mentioning that your baby eats yogurt. If he is allergic to milk how can he tolerate yogurt?

Hi, sorry to hear about your baby. It must be a very difficult time. Please try to avoid using steroid creams on him - the side effects are terrible.

My husband suffered for 25 years with eczema - tried so many different things and none worked. Derms kept on prescribing cortisone. The skin on his hands became so thinned that he was having to wear gloves everywhere - yeah you can imagine how that looked in summer - can you say Michael Jackson?!

Best of luck.

When I went to the naturopath she did her own test of what my son was allergic to and she found that he was not allergic to yogurt. When I give him yogurt he is completely fine, does not get red or rashy.

I understand what your saying Dragonfly, that's why I am on this site, because my husband also has exzema and I am not at all impressed with the Cortizone or Elidil for that fact, and that's all the specialists recommend. So I am hoping the alternative stuff can help him out......

to Dragonfly and Naz

Please follow my instructions to use Arnica which I have detailed above but the dosage for adults is 1 teaspoonful twice daily. You should notice improvement in under a week when the scratching usually stops. The lesions will then heal and you should be free of Eczema in about 2 months.

You are advised to take one dose every night for as long as you like as this will prevent the eczema recurring.

Hi naz. I feel that I must reply to let you know of my experience with my now 2 1/2 yr old. Oskar had eczema from very early on in life. I had him allergy-tested using a hair test at 5 months, just before starting him on solids. He came up with being INTOLERANT (as opposed to allergic) to dairy, soy, MSG and potatoes. Obviously he had been exposed to these items from my breastmilk, but with elimination from my diet (until he is able to tolerate these items) and the use of homeopathy we have been able to manage his condition quite well. I URGE YOU NOT TO GIVE UP BREASTFEEDING. If you can be careful with your diet then it is the best thing for both of you.

Naz,
I think you better try Arnica First and on its failure give Petroleum.I hope it will help.

sajjadakram635 last decade
thanks oskarsmom, I am in a little bit of confusion though, because you and Linda are both speaking from experiance of continuing to nurse and not to....

Joe I have begun the Arnica, and I will keep on it at least a month. But like I asked before, the Arnica I got is in pellets form, I am not really sure how much I should use.

naz2005 last decade
All you require is 3 pellets for a 500ml bottle of spring water. Dose is i teaspoonful which is sipped after banging the bottle before every dose.

Joe De Livera last decade
How is it going with the Arnica, are you using it?

lindabarrio last decade
I have started using the Arnica, I would probably give it a month, to see the results.....
