Hair thinning-Dr. Please help

Hello,
I am 39 year old women. For the past two years I have experienced a lot of hair loss with excessive dry scalp. My dry scalp is in patches. Lately I have noticed that my hair have become much thinner than before and have lost volume. My scalp is always itchy even after washing my hair.
Is there anything in homeopathy to cure this problem of hair thinning?

Otherwise I wash my hair with organic shampoo and conditioner every other day. (Earlier I was using Pantene). My hair get oily after a day of washing. I use hair dryer to dry my hair ( to avoid getting cold while going out of the house). I use coconut oil on my hair once every 10 days.

Please recommend,
Simran.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi Simran,

It is not very easy to cure the thinning of hair however I can try to help you out. Homeopathy helps to improve the the texture of hair and prevent further hair loss.

In order to go further I need to understand you as a person. If you are interested I would be happy to forward you the list of questionnaires.

Kindly let me know your view.

Thanks

1. Name - Simran
2.Age / Sex -39 years / female
3.Married/Unmarried/divorcee -Married
4.Weight and height - 105 lbs and 5'1"

5.Describe your main and associated complaints in details. What things aggravate your complaints and things that ameliorate them?
Answer: I have itchy scalp that gets oily within a day of washing hair. I have tried switching shampoos from Pantene, Dove to more organic shampoos. That has helped with itchiness a bit. I feel that my scalp secretes too much oil way too quickly. Earlier I could go 3-4 days without shampooing, but now I have to wash every other day. I don't know what makes it better.

6.Describe the events before the complaints started. The events can be related to mental or emotional state or it can be any physical event.
Answer: my life is very hectic and stressful, being a mom of twin girls. I work full-time and am fully involved with my kids life too. My husband does not participate at all at home or in kids life. I do not have any emotional support from him. My parents passed away a few years ago, which was a major setback for me. It took me a long time to come out of that grief.

7.How exactly it started?
I think after the death of my parents and excessive responsibilities at home and work did not leave any time for me to take care of myself. Eventually the condition of my hair deteriorated and not it is at a point where I want to do something to fix it.

8.How do u feel about it? How this complaint does concerns you? And what comes to your mind when you think about it?
Hair are the main part of you. It does effect how you look. I want to make my hair healthy again. I think that will definitely help me boost my self-esteem.

9.Have you taken any treatment or medication for it? List them.
Tried changing shampoos. Nothing else.
Other medications taken over the past 2 years:
Ignatia for grief,
Rhus tox for stiff neck
Belladona and Byronia for migraines
Petroleum for chilblains
Sulphur for hemorrhoids (occasional)

10.Describe your family background, your educational qualification,
Mom-dies of brain tumor on 2007
Dad-died of cardiac arrest in 2010
Sister -still living and healthy.

I have two masters degrees.

11. Do you have any family history of similar complaints. List them.
My mom had thin hair. My hair were not thin to start with but now they are thinning out.

12.Describe any life event that has made major impact on you. What are the issues in your life that's bothering you. Kindly describe the mental or emotional state in detail.
Last year I found out that my husband has an extra marital affair with his co-worker. That has been the biggest emotional stress for me for almost a year now. He is now back to the family, but does not take any interest in the family. So till today I am not sure if his affair has ended or not. He is very secretive about his life, so it is hard to say.

13.Describe you behavior, your mental state with your family members, and outside the family. (anger, irritability, anxiety, fears etc) Explain how do you react to these behaviors. If possible provide some examples to get clear idea of your mental state.
Husband - because of the situation he has created, I don't trust him at all. I try to ignore him otherwise I get upset and angry thinking about what he has done.
Kids- they are the joy of my life. I have focused my life around them and for them.

14) How do you react when you get angry?
When angry I would either yell and say hurtful things to the other person that I regret saying later. OR Sometimes I burst into tears when I don't find the right words to express my anger.

15) Does empathy or sympathy affects you? How?
If my husband is sympathetic to me that sounds like there is something wrong he has done that he is trying to hide. If others ( in-laws) are sympathetic I appreciate their support.

16) How do you overcome your mental stress?
I try to focus my attention in doing prayers to God and thinking of the priority of my life ( my kids).

17)Describe your desires or craving for food, and aversion to food.
I like to drink milk, eat bread, nuts.
I don't like to eat any kind of meat.

18)How is your thirst? How frequently you drink water?
I would say my thirst is normal most of the days. I drink around 32-40 oz of water in a day. Around my periods I get more thirsty.

19) Describe your sleep, dreams, appetite and general energy level.
For the last 1 year, I have not been a sound sleeper ( which I used to be). There are several days in a week when I wake up tired instead of fresh. My dreams are mostly around the safety of my kids and their life. I am constantly trying to improve my appetite, but it is still low.

I started experiencing hair loss after the birth of my daughters almost 8 years ago. At that time I did not pay significant attention to it. After that I starting having dandruff issues a few years ago (3-4 years ago), followed by more hair loss and hair thinning now.

I am not taking any medications for this particular cause. Occasionally I do take the folllowing:
Belladona ( for headaches)
Hepar sulphur ( for sore throat and cold).
Recently about 15 days ago I took Petroleum for chilblains and loose stools.
Loose stools is another complaint that I have had for almost a year and a half. Petroleum 1M ( single dose ) seemed to have helped with this issue as week as chilblains on my hands.

Let me know if you need any more information.

Hi Simran,

I am working towards your case. I have some questions for you kindly answer them.
1) How would you feel better if you weep or when you are angry? What would you do to make yourself feel better?

2) Do you prefer company of people? Explain why?

3) How and what do you feel when you don't get desired support from your husband?

Kindly let me know..

Thanks

homeodr 9 years ago
1) I mostly weep when I am upset. I have anger inside me but have a very hard time being mean and saying hurtful words to anyone. I rarely get angry and yell.

2) I prefer company of my family and close friends more than a big group of friends. It feels like a stress reliever where I am to share my life comfortably.

3) I have not gotten my husband's support for almost a year now. Initially I cried, got upset but then followed my heart and devoted my time to prayers. Somewhere deep in my heart I believe that evil doers always get punished for their deeds and so will be my husband. I try to stay strong for my girls because I want to live to raise then. I am my girls only support.

Let me know if you need more information.
Thank you,
Simran.

Hi Simran,

Take Pulsatilla 200C single dose in the evening on empty stomach.

DO NOT REPEAT the remedy. Single dose means only one dose to be taken.

If the medicine is in liquid form, add 4 drops of medicine in 10 teaspoon of water and take only 3 teaspoon out of it. Keep the remaining liquid on side or discard it.

If the medicine is in pills form then keep 4 pills over your tongue and let it dissolve.

Let me know any changes (mental, emotional and physical changes) in 3 days.

Thanks

Hello Dr. homeo,
I took Pulsatilla 200 two days ago. Since then my stools have become loose again and I have been experiencing light headaches.

I had loose stools for almost more than a year before with got cured by taking Petroleum 1m in March this year.

Hi..
If the symptoms are bearable there is no need to take any other medication. These symptoms may go away in a day or so.. However if they persists for the longer time , do take petroleum 200c single dose.
Keep updating me

Thanks
