The ABC Homeopathy Forum

severe trauma case

I would like advice on the following case, please:

58 year old female is attacked by two pitbull dogs. Fortunately, wounds are only to arms and legs. Both legs have relatively minor bone fractures. Right leg has a major flesh wound that is too big to heal on its own and will require plastic surgery or some sort. Patient appears calm but sad, with images of the attack replaying in mind. Thus far the following homeopathic treatment has been administered by myself (an amateur):

Day of attack: 1 dose Ruta Grav. 30x about 2 hours after incident.

2nd day: 1 dose Ruta Grav. 30x, and a few doses Arnica 30x.

3rd day: surgery in late morning 1 dose Arnica 30x roughly 2 hours after surgery (mid afternoon). A few more doses of Arnica 30x spread out later.

4th day (today): 1 dose Arnica 200c about 4pm.

Probably the above treatment was not optimal, but it was what I could do with my extremely limited knowledge and what I found available. Please advise on course of further homeopathic treatment.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You did the right thing.

Arnica is for shock from trauma injuries
and blood loss.

A high potency generally needs to be given
once- so you did that today.

Wait till tomorrow and come back on and describe
how you are feeling. A 200c can last at least
2 weeks, so you need to wait now.

Thanks for the feedback. Just for clarity, I myself am not the patient.

I am wondering about the contrast between your opinion about the high potency Arnica dose and the following advice on one webpage (dr forsyth)

Serious Injuries
•Arnica 200 - at 15 - 45 minute intervals for 5 or 6 doses and then 4 - 8 hourly for a few days or as long as necessary

That is for Emergency When
symptoms are still coming
up in an intense way.

It seems this is the aftermath
and no longer an emergency.Everyone responds
differently and see what the situation is
after a day.

If you are in the usa, I want
to suggest that you call
Homeopathic nurse Lia Bello.

She will do acute things and
emergencies for $50 plus followups. You can google her,
I don't know if her new site
has finished yet, but she has
over 25 years of experience and
is a homeopathic teacher plus
advisors to nurses using homeopathy. She does this work
by phone, her number in New Mexico is 505 474 4917.

Since the patient is going to
have to have more surgery,etc
it would be good to have someone who knows both the
allopathic and homeopathic.Bone fractures and the large
flesh wound are going to need some different remedies
to speed up healing.

Thanks for the great explanation of the arnica high potency and for the nurse reference.

Patient is currently more alert, more energetic, with much less pain. I've noticed that the swelling in a swollen hand has reduced. I have liquid arnica in 30x that I occasionally apply topically to the area but there have been no oral administration of remedies since the arnica 200c yesterday. Is the topical arnica a good idea?

Yes you can do that, but you
cannot put Arnica on any broken
skin, fyi.

Watch that the improvement is
ongoing, if it starts to plateau, then give her another
200c dose as needed.

Thanks again.

FYI, the remedy suggestions I got from the nurse were

for shock/injuries: Aconite 30c, Ledum palustre 30c, Hypericum 30c, Calendula gel, Arnica gel, Symphytum 30c

for drug side effects: probiotics and Nux Vomica.
