Psoriasis in 12 Year Old Girl
Hello, My 12 year old daughter has experienced psoriasis off and on since age 5 on her knee caps. In December she developed the condition on her scalp with significant hair loss. The Dermatologist we were referred to prescribed Tar Shampoo every day for the first week and every other day for two more weeks as well as clobetasol propionate USP in foam form twice a day on the affected area. Treatment began 10 days ago and the flaking/scaling with sores has completely subsided. The hair has started to grow back. But I want to search for the reason why she has these skin flare ups and find a homeopathic treatment. I would love any suggestions. Thank you.KathleenG9 on 2006-01-23

The reason would be something like an emotional trauma at an early age that she has been suppressing. Homeopathy could still help, but it may be necessary to identify the reason in order to make an appropriate remedy selection.

Thank you for the feedback. I can't think of anything she has gone through that would be an emotional trauma but there is a naturopath locally that specializes in NET that might be able to work with her. I appreciate the advice.

I'm 31 and your daughters story could be mine.I am still fighting psoriasis now. Mine also worsened at around 12 (puberty I thought had something to do with it)Wild yam cream has helped me before but I mostly take 600mg of Milk Thistle (aka. silymarin) twice a day and it goes away completely.The only drawback is that it will come back if a maintinence dose is not taken every day afterwards.I hope this helps you.

Thank you for your post and it is very helpful. I will look into the Milk Thistle and let you know how successful it is for her. I am sorry for what you are going through. From experiencing it with my daughter I have a greater understanding of the condition and the suffering it causes. Thank you.

I thought I'd let you know that the Milk Thistle takes 2 to 4 weeks to see real improvement but I've had it go away almost completely. I know what being a teenager with psoriasis is like and I hope this works for her.
