baby blood in stool

I am 31 yrs old with one baby girl who is 4.5 months and was born at home, exclusively breast fed and received no vacs. On occasion she has blood-tinged mucous in her stool. This happens maybe once every few weeks, usually accompanied by bright green slightly thicker stool. Today it happened twice, with one small movement being almost all blood tinged mucous. I thought it was a whole food vitamin that I was taking, but I never took it often and haven't taken it in weeks. My husband suggested that it is related to keeping her on her stomach, but she is not on her stomach often and only for 10 minutes or so if she is. I usually take an arnica when I see the blood so she gets it when I feed her. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
may be off base but after a liver detox with accupuncture and cranial sacral, supplements i had dark green stool for a day and everyone said it was liver flush

I know your baby has not had any of these treatments but it may be liver related

Suggest you consult a Pediatrician immediately to diagnose the reason for the blood tinged mucous in her stools.

The green stools may be due to her not getting sufficient milk if you are breast feeding her. You may have to add some formula to her feed.

Your doctor will be the best judge.

Thank you for your opinions. The baby drinks often and I have plenty of milk. As I stated earlier the stool is green once in a while and pediatricians do not usually give importance to color. Specifically I am looking for a homeopathic perspective.

Hi,
I also have a son who has this condition. He is 18months old and still we see blood in his stool all most daily. We went to pediatric GI and they did a colonoscopy and said it is allergy colitis. He was also exclusive breast-fed baby until 15 months of his age. My wife was on elimination diet and nothing worked. We are also giving him the hypoallergenic formula Neocate and the episode continues. Also we are giving him probiotic Lactobacillus GG. No luck so far. I am working with a homeopath for the past one year and tried various medicines. Some medicines like Rhus. Tox., if we give him the problem seems to go away when he is on it. But it comes back after we stop. Seeing blood in his stool and helpless, is a very emotional draining and very depressing. We are seeing another GI at Stanford now and they suggested sticking with very basic diet like plain rice, spinach, chayote (veg), apple and pears. He is on this diet for the past 2 days and we still see lot of blood. Is there some homeopathy medicine, which will help improve the GI tract? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sathya.

Our case is much different-only once in a while and just a small reddish color not a lot of blood, and no solid food yet, only breastmilk, but what might be helpful is that when I see it, I take arnica and then it goes away. Maybe it will come back later, but not right away. What might have been causing it is hair-I have long hair and have been losing more than usual (normal post pregnancy), anyway, recently I found a small bundle of hair in her poop(sometimes hair will get stuck in the stomach and it can make problems, so I'm very happy it came out). Again, your case is different, but maybe arnica will help if there is any internal injury.

It would also be great if vsathan's email id or any contact information by anyone(admin included) could be given on my mail id of alka_sarda at Hotmail.

It is urgent and necessary. Thankyou
