The ABC Homeopathy Forum

8 month old baby with excessive burping during and after feeds.

My 8 month is on formula since he was 2 months but startting at 4 month he struggles with excessive burping problem which at times sounds like a single hiccup type burp. He burps 5-6 times over a bottle (maybe normal-out of which about 3 of them actually sound like a gassy burp and rest are like single hiccup type sounds) but he burps (hicup type) many times up until next feed, probebly like 15-20 times...he wouldnt take his next feed until he feels that all his burps are out even if it takes 2 extra hours. He doesn't sit on his own compleyely so i have to constantly sit him to burp eventhough he enjoys playing on his own while laying down or so..he burps 2-3 times over solids too... he stops eating solids waiting to have burps out and by the time it takes us so long and he gets tired of eating and we have to stop solids...so somewhere this interfares with the amount he actually can/want to eat. This is why he is not able to establish well on solids even tho we started solids at 4 months....he would spit up milk and solids if he didnt get to burp on time...he is not in pain in any way after spit ups or otherwise and is healthy. He is fussy during feeds and eating solids only because he has to burp constantly, if burps come then he will take the rest of his food. But the problem is the excessiveness of burping..he always gets up during his naps to be burped, and same at nights, Which disturbs him and myself.

Peditrician thinks is some sort of acid reflux but didnt sound sure. He was percribed Preacid but i never started him on it because i cant try medications on my baby until i know for sure or the doctors assures me.

Again, I know that once he starts sitting and gets on his feet he would burp on his own, but my concern is mainly about him having to burp many times when feeding and when eating solids because it doesnt let him eat properly so he pulls off of eating AND that he wakes up to burp...sometimes if he is deep sleeping and doesnt get up to burp he would spit up soon after he wakes up. He still takes night feeds and it gets hard to burp him many times and finish his feed....it gets very tough on me aswell and im sure he is super disturbed too. I plan to countinue nights feeds (personal decision).

So What sort of problem is this?..Is their a homopatic medication to help us? Is this some sort of acid reflux? Is this a gas problem? (Most of the times it only sounds like a hicup)

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I shall copy my default therapy for Baby GERD which I have prescribed for hundreds of babies and which I hope will help your baby too.

The remedy is Nat Phos 6x which is a Biochemic Cell Salt and is NOT a drug. It is absolutely safe in use and you may like to look it up on Google.

You will give baby half a tablet dissolved in milk a few minutes before every feed and the balance half immediately after a feed but you will not exceed a total of 6 tablets (12 halves) in 24 hours.

You may like to try to reduce the quantity of milk you give for each feed to enable baby’s digestion to stabilize. You will however feed more often. It is essential that you burp baby immediately after every feed.

You will avoid eating all food that can cause any distress to baby. You must know that they are passed on to baby through your breast milk.

It is best not to vaccinate Baby till s/he is over 2 years old as the after effects in some cases can add to the problems with GERD.
Do not give the MMR Vaccine in One shot as there is plenty of evidence on the Web of severe side effects which can result. You are advised to give it in 3 separate shots if you must do so, after baby is 2 years old.

Do not give Baby any solid food till s/he is over 8 months of age.

You (the mother) will take Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets after each of 3 meals daily. The idea is that your milk will pass the effect to baby. You may like to know that Nat Phos 6x will help to reduce your weight by 1kg per week very safely.

If you discover that baby does not respond to the Nat Phos 6x alone and this has occurred in a few cases, you will contact me again and I shall then prescribe another remedy to reinforce the action of Nat Phos 6x.

You will stop all other drugs you may be giving baby if you start on my therapy.

Please respond to below questions

1. Can Nat Phos 6x be mixed with water instead of milk for 8 month old...

2. If problem solves do we countinue taking Nat phos or stop it?
If to be countinued, will it be same amouny and number of dosages OR if to be stoped after positive results--do we stop all at once or by gradually reducing dosages etc

1 Yes but you may discover that Baby may not like the taste.

2 Why don’t you start baby on my therapy and talk about it later?
Nat Phos 6x is NOT a drug and you do not have to be concerned about using it.

Okey. Sounds great...thankyou

One last concern i have is if its okey to give the tablet all at once instead of before and after feed. If so, should i give it before or after feed.

Hello

So my baby has been on Natphos 6x for more then a week...again his only problem is excessive burping and his constant need to burp while eating solids and milk which makes him fuss and quit eating.. He burps many times after a feed even up until next feed and wakes uo having the need to burp.

Should i countinue natphos for more time or are their any other recommendations. Please respond. Thanks for all your help.

The email alert is not operating anymore on this forum as it has been disconnected by the owner due to getting an avalanche of Spam. I do not monitor it daily as I used to in the past and this the reason for my not responding up to today.
I have my own Website on which you can alert me if you wish to contact me in future:
www.joedelivera.com
If you wish to communicate with me you are advised to alert me on my Website in future.

I note that your baby has not responded to my Nat Phos 6x therapy alone and this can be due to his inability to digest solids at 8 months.

Stop the solids and report his response.
