Hi,

I found a couple of characteristics of Rhus Tox personna:

- Craves cold milk
- When bathing, scalds skin with hot water.

If someone matches these 2 characteristics, is it enough to say that Rhus Tox can be the remedy for this person?

Rhus Tox is to be used to treat eczema in this case.

Thanks, look forward to hearing your replies.

Is Rhus Tox and Poison Ivy the same medication? If so, then my son who is 5yrs old was given the medication for his eczema. Orally as well as ointment form to be applied to the affected area. The oral application works better in tropical countries, I am told.
Hope this helps.

Rhus Tox is often quite an athletic person. If suffering from muscular aches and pains that are better for continuous movement, then Rhus Tox maybe for them.

Clue: Patient may have red triangular patch on tip of tongue.

P.S. Rhus tox is poison ivy.

The red triangular patch on tip of tongue is found ,mostly in case of fevers.

It may not be present in other situations, where Rhustox is the indicated remedy.

You will not find all the symptoms that are written in the materia medica, in the patient.

each disease manifests a certain group of symptoms.A comparative study of medicines for a particular ailment can be very illuminating.

Study the indications that may suggest Rhustox in fevers.compare it say with Bryonia,Arnica,Eup.perf etc..

similarly if it is a case of eczema, you may have to study alumina,Ars.alb,Psorinum,Sulphur etc.,in comparision with Rhustox.

I find Nash's 'Leaders in Homeopathic Theraupatics' a good book to start with to know these differentiations.

Homeopathy is both science and art.If you want to master it, you need to spend a few years in reading, understanding, correlating and experimenting.

Thanks for your replies Traci and Murthy.

Murthy - from your post, I understand you have very good experience with homeopathy. I shall definately try and get a hold of the book you suggested.

Many thanks!

I suffer greatly from Spring pollen allergies. In the 1980s rhus tox injections were available. And it was the only remedy that gave me total relief. The FDA remove it from the market. I have never tried taking Rhus Tox orally. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has successfully used rhus tox orally to combat pollen allergies.
