Help for my silent refluxer (10 months old)

I am looking for some help for my son's GERD. He is 10 months old and a silent refluxer. A recent barium swallow test showed that he repeated and severely refluxes up to the point of his adam's apple. We currently have him on a twice daily dose of Zantac. He was diagnosed at 5 weeks of age. The Zantac helped for a bit and we switched to Losec when it lost it's effect. The Losec created a night gas problem that defied belief! After fiddling with the dose for a while we took him off because the gas pain seemed worse than the acid pain. He is now back onto a higher double dose of Zantac which again is helping but I don't like him being on it. I would far rather try something non-pharmaceutical. The gas from the Losec continued for weeks after being taken off it. I gave him a twice daily dose of acidophilus and a thrice daily dose of lycopodium which seemed to stop that problem. During the day my boy is an absolute happy angel. At night he wakes up to 10 times and is my little terror. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
If he is breast fed then the mother must take the remedy about an hour before the feed .

Silica -- note this site spells it Silicea -- is the best in low potency , twice a day, Silica 3x

Gas rumbling problems will yeild to Podophyllum

Thanks for your response Walkin. He is breastfeed at the moment twice a day for sure as I am weening him down to this. He is fed at 6:30 in the morning and again at 8:00 in the evening by breast.

What is the option when he is bottle fed exclusively? He will be weened completely at around 12 months.

I think we have managed to eliminate the gas issues using lycopodium and acidophilus. But if it comes back again I will pick up some Podophyllum to try.

thanks!

Make your own thread, with details of your child's problems. Someone will be able to guide you once that is done.
