Infant sleep problems - 10 months

My infant son has had problems sleeping since about 3 months old. He began sleeping through the night at 6 weeks but then at 3 months began to wake and nurse often. I allowed him to co-sleep so that I might get rest, but now I need him to sleep on his own.

Currently he will sleep in his crib from 7:00 pm until midnight, occasionally waking for a few minutes here or there but go back to sleep with some pats on the bottom. Then, around midnight, he will wake and not go back down unless he is in bed with me. His cry is restless and he will pop up his head to look around or stand if I do not reposition and gently hold him in place. I have tried to sleep train him by allowing him to cry it out or sooth him without picking him up. He will fight it for 1-2 hours.

He is a horrible napper. He will nap in the morning for 40 minutes or so and then again in the afternoon for 1 1/2 hours (but wakes up at least 2 times and requires me to sooth him back to sleep).

My son has had a lot of transition in his short life as we made an international move from the USA to Indonesia when he was 8 months old. Prior to that we were getting ready for the move and had many extremely stressful circumstances. I had much stress surrounding his birth as well.

He has a very easy going, gentle disposition during the day. He has a deep chuckle and is very sweet. He enjoys people but really loves those he is most familiar with. I do not see that he has any fears about anything.

He preferes to sleep on his side or belly.

He will move around in his crib and seems to wake himself up with a flailing arm or because he has put his head into a corner or rail.

A few additional notes -

His head is almost always sweaty. It was in the USA as well as hot, humid Indonesia.

He eats well, always preferring real food. He has never tolerated blended baby food. He is pretty adamant about feeding himself.

As a tiny infant he hated loud noises. They made him extremely distressed. Now he does not like them but is not as distressed by them. Any noises will wake him from sleep.

I am hoping to find a homeopathic solution that will root out this issue for him and help his body to connect his sleep cycles for good. I hope he will learn to nap for longer and sleep through the night on his own.
