Dull Toothache

Hello, my husband has a toothache on one tooth that has had a root canal (2010) and a cap. The pain is more of a dull ache - sore - on the verge of pain - it is also hot in that area. When he chews on it, with pressure it goes from ache to the beginnings of pain which is somewhat sharp, more defined.
He has been taking Arnica every 4 hours for about 24 hours, and perhaps it is keeping it from getting worse but it is not healing. Thank you for your help!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Even tho he had root canal, there can be decay under the cap. The caps do not last forever and he probably has to get the cap off and decay out and then a new cap. If decay is minor they can do that and save the tooth structure.. it is a common problem with caps as they can leak and you cannot keep tooth clean.

Hypericum 200c..4 pills thrice a day..for three days

Also apply plantago mother tincture a few drops mixed in a little water, directly on the affected area. Use a soft cloth/ cotton swab. Twice a day.

As Simone suggested get the tooth inspected by a dentist. The above medicines will give temporary relief.
