The ABC Homeopathy Forum

help for my cat!

Hi everyone! I have a 5-year-old male cat, who lives indoor.
He started rubbing his chin with his paws after eating, about two months ago. He showed signs of extensive and severe infection (pyodermititis) on his chin, which also started to spread to his upper lips and above his eyes. His right submundibular lymph node remained enlarged the whole time. He stopped eating dry food and turned to wet food exclusively. We had X-rays done, which showed possible small (greenstick) fracture of the right mandible. He was treated with multiple doses of antibiotics by his vet (ampicillin and cephalosporin), along with many courses of antihistaminic. The infection was somewhat controlled after a month or so, and thiw is when we decided to turn to homeopathy. The doctor thought that it could be a case of eosinophilic granuloma which causes the irritation, so she gave us Hepar Sulphur 200 CH, one dose daily, for three days. We noticed slight improvement. We also gave him dry food, which he ate with no signs if itching or rubbning afterwards. Whenever we gave him dry food, though, the classic routine of fiuriously rubbing his chin and face after meal would start.
Let me also note at that point, that this whole time we had some urination issues from time to time (he would go to his sand and make multiple attempts before urinating, he would sometimes drink plenty of water or urinate many times throughout the day). Urinalysis showed white blood cells on many occasions, along with ++protein and decreased specific gravity and alcalic pH.
We went on with Hepar sulphur for another 7-10 days (since the doctor told us that the fact he would itch on wet food but not dry food is proof of eosinophilic granuloma), and the lymph node subsided, as well as the urine symptoms. His urinalysis even came back improved (1+ white blood cells, 1+ protein, normal SG, normal pH).
However, we noticed he started rubbing his face again, after 10 days of being back on dry food, and after a few days he stopped eating again. The homeopathic doctor told us she does not have anything else to offer, so we took him back to his vet, who identified redness on his whole face, as in allergy and a small black "hole" on a back tooth, as well as a slightly red corona on his right bicuspid. He gave him a cortisone shot.
Our cat actually improved the next few days and started eating again. The redness subsided and the lymph node disappeared. After two weeks, though, we were back to zero. The doctor told us that the long-acting cortisone (10-14 days) action wore off, so he gave him another shot. But it did not work this time. So, the next day we gave him 1/2 Medrol per os following our doctor's advice, still with no results. He would eat two kibbles (if even these!) and start rubbing and itching again.
We were so desperate not to go through the same again, so we started him with Mercury Solubilis 200 CH the next day after Medrol, which he took for two days. He somewhat improved. After two days we gave him Hepar Sulphur again. He had a strong reaction at the exact time the medicine was given, with excessive rubbing and itching. After a while he tried a couble of bites of his food and then he would sit in pain. We gave him a second dose of Hepar Sulphur yesterday. from what we read, though, Mercury fits his symptoms best, so we put him back on Mercury Solubilis today.

I know we possibly made mistakes on handling his case on our own, but conventional medicine had nothing else to offer to us, appart from corticosteroids and hypoallergenic diet, which he won't eat anyway.

Any opinions on our case?

thank you very much!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
A couple of clarifications:

1) He generally rubs and itches when he chews his dry food and when he eats wet food
2) His last urinalysis had 1+ protein and not 2+. He also had 1+ urobilinogen. After Hepar Sulphur he had 1+ WBC, 1+ protein, 2+ urobilinogen good sg and good pH
3)After the second dose of Mercury he started eating normal amount of food he would always eat
4)He's done all lab tests (complete blood count, biochemical tests) multiple times, ultrasound of the abdomen and X-rays of chest and abdomen which all came back normal
5) When we give him spirulina, honey or cod liver oil with wet food he does not seem irritated and does not tend to itch

Thank you!

With all the effort you're making to help him get well, you probably have already educated yourself about cat food brands, but if not, it could be an important part of helping him get well? I have a vet who does homeopathy and chinese medicine who said the food brand and type of meat can be very important too in healing. good luck!
