Persistant cough weeks after a bad cold

|My mother who is 75 had a really bad cold a couple months ago. I live near by so I stopped by daily to check on her and help out with things around the house. I ended up catching the same cold and as far as colds go it's the worst I've ever had. The worst of it lasted for 2 weeks for both my mother and myself. We both have a cough that will not go away. It seems like it is harder on her because she seems completely wore out from the constant cough. The cough is sometimes productive producing a very tenacious thick light greenish sputum. Other times the cough sounds wet but nothing is produced and just non stop. I had her schedule an appointment with her physician who did nothing. No tests of any sort. The few minutes she was in the doctors office the she didn't cough so the doctor has no idea what the cough sounds like and without testing just guesses it's a virus that will get better on it's own. Our symptoms and the progression are very similar. I know how miserable I feel and I can see how completely drained she is. It does seem worse while lying down and as she gets more weak she lies down more so coughs more. She has been using NyQuil hoping to get some relief and be able to rest but has had not relief.
Can anyone suggest something that may clear things up and stop this cough?

Nat sulph and silica are for green
Kali mur is to stop the drip that has to be going on From back sinus passages. The drip can be subtle but
Causes coughing and is what turns things into a chest cold instead of just a head cold.
'Ferrum and calc phos are for any chronic respiratory issue. In future if you get a cold start ferrum phos every half hour on day one.It will usually stop a virus in a day or two -IF you begin to use it at first sign of being ill.
Mag phos-helps to reduce the coughing.
All of these get 6x.
Then mix 6 tabs of each in about 250 ml of a water bottle.shake and take sips every hour while awake.
Report after 3 days.

Or order from vitacost online -good prices and usually get in one or two days as they seem to have warehouses at every airport.
Cell salts restore balance to the cells themselves.
If USA,I also advise get host defense-- reishi mushrooms.says for a healthy heart on front.only that brand. It is just powdered mushrooms-huge immune boost. You do not feel anything-but just like you are feeling well.only that brand. Whole Foods has and vitacost also.my family has used these for years- fabulous. Take 3 caps am and pm if sick.

Mom's symptoms were getting worse so I ended up taking her to a different doctor and x-rays showed she had pneumonia. They prescribed some antibiotics and she is currently taking them. Since she is on antibiotics now can she still use the items you suggested?
As for me, I'm going to wait for my order and once it arrives and I start using the products I will update after 3 days.

It could be pneumonia, but thought that the first dr at least ruled it out by listening to her chest-but I guess even if they did, they either do not care,or sub par skill level.
You should get checked for this too-
It is nothing to fool around with-ever.
Yes, the salts and mushrooms will simply boost the immune system,
And you should do them, for faster recovery along with whatever meds dr prescribed.

I am feeling much better. I still have a cough but it's not constant and is much more productive with sputum that is thinner and is a translucent yellow.
I feel like I could benefit from continuing the same treatment for another day or so. Any thoughts on continuing?
As for my mom, she does not seem to be having as good of results as I have. She seemed to be making progress on day 3 but today seems to be getting worse again. She gets very weak and out of breath from simple tasks.
She started out worse than me and since it progressed to pneumonia more or different medicine. Can depression slow down her ability to heal. She had a cousin pass away this weekend and she very emotional over the loss. It must be difficult for her because she is at that age where she sees all the people in her life passing away.
Any thoughts on continued treatment or a different direction she should go? She does have to follow up with her physician sometime this week on the pneumonia.

You and your mom can take the cell salts for two to three weeks. I would add kali phos 6x to your mom's mix as it helps strengthen the nerves(grief)
As you feel improved you take less amount of doses. When one first becomes ill , taking sips every half hour or hour will usually start to knock the virus out. After that you can go to every couple hours , then 4x a day and 2x a day till you are 100 percent again.
I am sorry to hear about your mother's loss. First, when one has pneumonia , you are told to really rest for 2 weeks or so, due to weakness.i know many who try to resume regular activity after a few days, and that does not work out well.
For grief and shock you can give her one dose of ignatia 30c. It helps people release emotions and recover from grief. But seeing that she is akready weak, this may be the wrong time to give that remedy. Ignatia can make a person tired and emotional-
It can bring up other related emotions
Of regret, sadness to release. So many people think they have let go,
But they have not fully let go-
So I would just make sure she stays rested and supported and later, when
Better you could try ignatia ,educate her on how it works ,and be around her for a day after for support. Emotions come up, then go after an hour or two, then more come up-
They always feel like they will stay..
But they are releasing . It helps to have another person around to reassure them.
