This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Basketball. There is a connection between jumping and growth hormone, as explained below. I don't know if it's too late to start for him, it depends on genetics. In general growing is completed for boys at 21 years of age, for someone earlier for someone later. He should still have about 1-2 years (or maybe more) to grow.

-------------------------
"The continous act of jumping increases electric flow of body current to the brain which stimulates the growth hormone resulting to increased height. Basketball is a game synonymous with constant jumping in between play.

Secondly, the constant jumping in basketball increases the flow of blood to crucial body parts such as the legs and spine. Jumping momentarily suspends the body in the air followed by compression when the person lands, this act, when done repeatedly, improves the blood flow to the growth palates found in the spine and in legs resulting to increased height. When repeated over a period of time, the results in height increase are bound to be noticable.

There is further argument that playing basketball has direct impact on HGH levels in the body, HGH is the hormone that is responsible for increased height. Constant jumping and running involved in basketball combined with intake of highly nutritious food increases the body’s secretion of the height increasing HGH. Increased HGH results to increased height."

-------------------------------

It's important that he doesn't do weight lifting because it stunts growth, and he should eat enough protein.
He also must sleep 8-9 hours a day because growth hormone is secreted during sleep.

-------------------------------

Supplements and foods that increase growth hormone:
*
Arginine
GABA
Ornithine
L-Glutamine
*
Melatonin
*
I wouldn't recommend HGH supplements because it can easily cause acromegaly if overdone or if the bones already closed. These listed are all harmless amino acids that are synthetised naturally in the body and help boost HGH, and melatonin is a hormone produced by the body, it regulates sleep and waking and encourages deep sleep. If I were him, I'd get some supplement for sportists with these amino acids because they all help athletic performance and are commonly used, and if he has insomnia also melatonin.

Homeopaths here may have other kind of ideas (maybe some remedy), I'm just another patient here. Best of luck to him!

It's good that cosmic weaver brought the connecting between jumping and height growth. I have observed this connection too and had put to good use too. A few years back on a growth thread, i did write that early morning(after getting up in the morning finishing the essentials) jumps--- be it a game like basketball, skipping or mere jumping keeping some marks on the wall and attempting to breach the marks everyday after taking some water has given good results. But this is likely to help more between 13 and 17 than beyond 18.
