Possibly silent reflux?

My 5 year old son has had the issue of persistent cough (sounds barky) that has been going on for over a year. He has been underweight since he was born and has very little appetite. Never complains about any heartburn or pain but that something feels stuck in his throat. He would vomit at night the first two days right after he caught any kind of virus. It has now changed to persistent cough. Researching through internet, we found this forum and started him on Nat Phos. It has definitely helped (we started 2 weeks ago) but not sure if fixing the issue or temporary bandage since if he misses a dose, he is back to the cough. My questions are-

1. How long can we continue this Nat Phos therapy? On the bottle we got it says 1 week. Is it safe to use long term?

2. Do we need to add any other homepathic medicine like Arnica to see better improvement? If yes, for how long?
