4 Year Old child grinds his teeth at night.
4 Year Old boy child grinds his teeth at night since he got his teeth. He makes lots of noise and wakes up even people in the next room. Mostly he grinds front biting teeth. Boy is normal and intelligent in every other respect.kapil on 2006-03-29

How is his bowel habbit? Have u found out worms? Does he suffer from any other disease recurrantly? How is he temperamentally? shy/aggressive/fearful?
U can give Tuberculinum bovinum 1M 1dose on 1st day night followed by Cina 200 -1 dose on next day night. Post back the response.

John Stanton:
Kid is perfectly normal, rarely went sick. No serious health concern. He is vegetarian and drinks lots of milk. Slightly underweight but very active, playful and healthy. His Bowel habbits are normal. No worm history. Was given homeopathy as well allopathy work eradication medicine albandazole but worms were never found.
Following medicines failed to reslove this issue:
Mercury 30
Belladonna 30 & 1M
Calcarea Carbonica 30
Cina but in low potency
Tuberculenum 30 & 1M worked slightly for a short time.

Kid has all vaccinations
Polio, DPT, MMR, Chicken Pox, Meningitis, Hib, Hiv, Influenza and more.
But he was always rubbing his jaws even before any major immunization started. Actually grinding word is not appropriate here because he rubs his front teeth together. His lower biting teeth are now flat because of the rubbing motion of upper teeth over them.
Was rarely treated allopathically for some miscellaneous minor throat and cold problems. Mostly Amoxicillin was given.
He has severe eczema on his scalp till he was 3 years and noting worked (shampoos, antihistamines etc.) but phytolacca-200 (suggested by kuldeep) worked marvel. His problems reappeared next year but in very less severe form so another dose of Phytolacca-200 resolved it quickly again.
He likes lemonade and orange juice but takes a cup of each. Use to eat lots of candy but now he likes salty food. I think regarding his food habits he is normal. There is no extreme in food or other habits.

start treatment single dose (2 pellets) nux vomica 200c --to be atken by child before bed--at least 1 hour after last eating...--no repetition of dose..
need some adjusting here--CHILD MUST AVOID milk and all milk products for now..aslo NO acidic foods and drinks (all carbonated soft drinks;vinegar;tomatoes and tomatoe products; fruits and fruit juices;coffee;tea;,,,etc)...no spicy foods..
depends on response to nux--but most like calc-c or sulph--- follow--but depends--

To child, I gave a dose of Nux Vomica 300 at April 1, dose was repeated twice following weeks but so far no improvement in his teeth grindings.
Dr. deoshlok, I remember that two homeopaths tried various potencies of Cina including 200 in past with no effect.

Can you check if the child has white spots on his finger nails?
Is he also constipated/has difficulty expelling the stool??
If it is so, then Silicea is the med for the child. Will take away his night - grinding of teeth problem.

Pankaj Verma thanks for your looking into this case. He has no white spots on finger nails, very regular in bowel habits, eats well but he is kind of under weight but always playful. Otherwise he is normal in each dimension. I just gave him Belladonna 6X.

sulphur willbe needed in treatment---but exhaust your other options first and if no success post backk--then we go deeper..

Pankaj, John Stanton and kuldeep thanks for your support. Kid is grinding his teeth as he has started having teeth. He started developing his teeth late (after 13 months). I believe before he got teeth he was rubbing his jaws. He has very hard time during teething.
I took him to several homeopaths and also read materia medica and gave him several medicines myself. I think I gave him Sulphur 30 and 1M too but for some other problems.
But as I gave him Belladonna 6X (recommended by kuldeep), he did not grind his teeth for two consecutive night, this happened first time in 4 years. Actually he used to grind his teeth even during day naps.
I dont know if Belladonna 6X is appropriate medicine and would work for how long? I request you all to follow up his case so child is cured of his problem from root. Thanks again.
