current croup in 4yo

My son is 4. I'm trying to pinpoint a remedy for croup.

He had it last year in the same month. It's when the weather changes from cold to warm, as this week was the first week of spring-like weather. Both of these attacks, although a year apart, are identical!

The attack comes on at night, waking him from sleep. Lots of anxiety, restlessness because he has a hard time breathing. The barking noise typical of croup is more so when he is inhaling. He has a fever, very hot to the touch. Tons of mucus in his chest that he cannot expectorate. Feeling better with humidifier and attention.

To help even further:
He has a big appetite. Eats constantly but barely gains. His favorite food is yogurt...sweet yogurt. He is small for his age. He has a nervous nature...does not like big crowds. Does not like to be left alone...he cries everytime mom or dad leave thinking they won't come back. He is shy & insecure when he first meets new people but comes around, as long as mom & dad are near. He wakes frequently at night, crying from nightmares and will cry until someone comes into his room to comfort him. He wets the bed at night on occasion.
One thing unique to him is he HATES sunlight in his eyes. He screams & cries and demands sunglasses whenever the sun is out and bright.

As a toddler, he was prone to ear infections, had dry eczema on his legs and really bad night terrors. These things have improved since use of homeopathy.
