Homeopathic Opium.
Hi.This may be a stupid question but I am very new to homeopathy and therefore have very little knowledge of the subject. Also, as I am not very computer savvy I have been having trouble digging up any useful info.
I have seen homeopathic opium for sale in the UK, some on this site, and I was wondering about the effects. Are they similar to the narcotic effects induced by the illegal namesake or is there a difference?
I would really appreciate some information regarding the immediate physiological effects and also the long and short term effects on health.
How does homeopathic opium itself differ from opiates such as morphine?

So in homeopathy the poisonous effects of the "Raw" substance are are used as indications for the administration of the Homeopathic variety.
For instance Raw Opium make the bowel inert- inactive , and it is therefore a major cure for constipaton.

I was actually considering taking it for bowel related reasons. I had heard it was good.
I am just not sure due to the conotations that opium has. I don't want to be walking around as though I am whacked out on heroin or end up addicted to the stuff!

A wonderful cure for constipation is to drink as much water as you can in as short a space as you can.
A friend was having a pelvic scan and was told to sip a litre of water in the hour preceeding the scan. She forgot and gulped down a litre of water 10 mins before the scan. During the scan the nurse pointed out that her bowels were now full of water, and she would need a bowel movement soon. She explained this was due to the fact that your kidneys have a specific filtration rate, and if you can drink water faster than they can filter it, your body sends the water to the bowels. Any "matter" in the bowel will be flooded with water, and as a common cause of constipation is dehydrated stools, the stools will become loose.
I have tried this with a few patients, and it has worked very well.

Well.. first thing I can say is raw opium and refined opium and opiates have little in common with homeopathic opium.
As a homeopathic remedy, doses are hyper diluted to trigger the bodies own defense mechanisms with itself rather than force, or ilicit its own reaction. the homeopathic philosophy of Like Curse Like is well exibited in opium as it is common knowledge that opiates cause constipation where homeopathic opium, in a dilution or "potency" that is too low to cause consitaption, actually, in am manner of pseaking, suggest to the body that it is consitpated and therefore needs to prepae and remedy the situation.
IN my xperience homeopathic opium has been quite successful. You will find the best results either orally or perhaps in suppositories. ORally, you can take dros, tables or the most poular, Pellets.
When taking homeopathy orally you want to allow the medication to disolve under the tounge slowly, 15 minutes aay from any foood and two hours after any mint or menthol, if you have had any. This is because mint and mentholated products constrict the blood vessels under the tounge and littel to none of the medication is actually taken into the body.
A good starting dilution, or potency, woudl be in the lower dilutions or perhaps 9ch, 12ch or the like. you may try 15ch or een 30 if you wish, but with higher dilutions you are breachign into a more specified dosage form that will be more successful only when it is chosen to exactly corespond to your body type and the cause of the condition. Try a lower dilution
