How do you know eczema is treated?

I see so many posts on this forum which talks about how to treat eczema but none of them tell us how do we know that eczema is getting better?

I am sure it will not happen overnight. So how do patients know - yes, there is an improvement !!

Does the texture of skin change? Does the cycle of red
inflammation, flakiness shortens/widens? Itchiness start decreasing? Improvement in night time sleep?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
For me, over a number of days, the itch subsided, then the itch went away, and then the skin started to heal.

Or skin symptoms may go away but some other ailment may appear or reappear but in a curable form.

Daisy43: Do you get very-very itchy before itch starts to subsides? My son has always been itchy but now a days he using lot of force to itch and always peeling his skin and bleeding. And I don't know how he manages that as I keep his nails very-very short.

Dr. Kuldeep: What other ailment are you referring too? Please enlighten.

thanks

val, no itchier than the eczema was progressing anyway before the remedy started to kick in.

Something that helped relieve the itch somewhat before the remedy was found was a combination of organic (pure) coconut oil and topical burdock or comfrey.

The coconut oil is for spreading on your skin instead of a petroleum-based cream. Not for taking internally, although perhaps that would help.

Daisy, How long it took for your eczema to heal?

As you can read from the link
http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/57902/

It talks about treating eczema in 6 weeks. I talked to few other people and most of them told me that it took almost an year to treat the eczema completely.

What is your take on it?

thanks

Val, it was over the course of a number of days and then just the time it took for the skin to heal after the itch was gone.

What takes longer is finding the right remedy and maybe a need to pursue a series of remedies in a particular order to address other issues first. Or maybe needing to repeat the remedy to give it an additional boost. So, it can depend on the person's starting point.

It took my homeopath some time to find the right remedy for me but then it reacted very quickly.

Daisy,

It seems like my understanding of the whole treatment is wrong.

I was told and hence believed that right medication will cause aggravation. And you have to keep taking the medicine in higher potencies which in result will cause more aggravation.

I am not sure what happens when you run out of potencies of medicine or there is no more aggravation but other symptomps exist.

As per your experience, if you find the right medication then you should see eczema clearing not aggravating, right?

I am sorry if I keep asking the same thing again and again as different homeopaths tell different things and there is no way of knowing what is right and what is wrong.

Where was your homeopath located?

thanks for your replies.

have had some remarkable success in the treatment of Eczema and the remedy that I used was Arnica 6c in the wet dose which is made by inserting 3 pellets of the remedy into a 500ml bottle of spring water. The bottle is shaken hard 10 times to produce bubbles and a teaspoonful is sipped twice daily after succussion before each dose. Please note that you do not have to make a new bottle of the remedy every time as the bottle should last about 3 months at 2 tsp/day.

Arnica is not listed in the homeopathic text books as the remedy for Eczema and I believe that I am the first person to have used it for this ailment.

Report response in a week.

No coffee cola drinks and sausages, ham and bacon may be used as they all antidote the remedy.

val, my only aggravations were from incorrectly chosen remedies. Once the right remedy was found and took hold after several days it proceeded only towards cure. I don't know if you are supposed to experience aggravations. I would suggest Robin Logan's paperback, The Homeopathic Treatment of Eczema. That might give you a better idea of how the treatment should or could progress towards cure. For a chronic condition, if your homeopath needs to confront other issues first, there can appear to be adverse developments, but they should be temporary and proceed in an anticipated order. At least that is my understanding. My homeopath is in Massachusetts.

Good luck! Eczema can be wretched.
