remedy for croup for 5 yr old

My 5 year old son got croup last night. I gave him a dose of Hepar Sulph 30 and Belladona 200. He was ok if he was sitting, but minutes after he went to bed, he had severe trouble breathing. It would get better if I make him sit, but the moment he lies down it would get worse.
We ended up taking him to ER where he was given steriod to reduce inflammation and a respiratory treatment as well. After he was better, he was sent home.

Is there a better homepathic remedy or a better approach to croup ? This happens each year. My son is asthmatic and that makes this tougher. Sometimes during croup he will have asthma as well. Main problem is the inflammation in throat that hinders the air going in. The ER doctor referred to it as 'strider'.

- Age 5 yrs old
- First incident of croup at 7 months of age
-Gets it at least once a year. Sometimes more.
-Allergic to dogs, cats, mold, grass pollen, dustmites.
-Diagnosed as asthmatic since two and half years of age
-croup symptoms he gets: sore throat, doggie bark like cough, raspy breathing, difficulty breathing in, saliva comes out of the mouth. Better if sitting up or taking him outside in cool air. Very worse on lying down. Sometimes when lying down sounds like he is gasping for air with a few seconds as if stopped breathing.
-Croup is sometimes accompanied by asthma. Wheezing sound from lungs.
-Current medications: Flovent (takes 2 puffs/day), patanol eye drops (as needed), albuterol(as needed), zyrtec(daily 5mg), singulair(5mg).
-All above medications except for albuterol he started in Feb 2005 after a severe similar episode of croup.
-He is shorter than average in height, likes to eat sweet things, not a picky eater, good energy level, sensitive in nature.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Nat Sulph 6c in the wet dose is the remedy for your son for his Asthma.

I have detailed the full treatment which has worked in the case of a 7 year old boy whose mother did not wish to use this remedy and used many others suggested by other homeopaths with no success.

She then used Nat Sulph and her son's Asthma responded in a few hours and it is under control for the last 2 weeks.

You can read all about this cure on:

You can also start reading the detailed instructions I gave on page 1 of this thread.

Joe,

Thanks for your reply.
A couple questions:
1) Can this particular treatment that you have outlined in your other post be done even when he is not having asthma at that time.
He is better today than 2 days ago. No asthma today. Just residual cough from croup.
2) I notice you mentioned Ars Alb 200 to be taken as well in your other post. A while back, I was told that for children not to give this remedy over 30 potency. Please can you mention your views on this.
Both my husband and son are asthmatic and take steroids. It would be wonderful if they could come off those awful strong medications.

3)Is there any remedy specifically for croup also, that one can give on the inset of croup to reduce the inflammation in the throat ?

THanks

Would you like to define CROUP for me ? Please give details of how you differentiate it from Asthma. Croup is usually caused by inflammation of the trachea and the larynx but you refer to your son's throat. Have you checked his tonsils and does he have any infection ?

If your son is not a chronic Asthmatic he may use the Split dose method when a teaspoonful is taken from the bottle and stirred into a half cup of water from which a teaspoon is sipped. After a few weeks when you are quite certain that his asthma is under control, you can then stagger the dosage to every other day. You will eventually discover in few months that his asthma will be cured.

Your husband can use the dose straight from the bottle and after his asthma clears up he too can use the split dose method.

Ars Alb 200 is to be used on a SOS basis if and only if the patient is unable to breathe during an attack which will normally not occur if he is already on Nat Sulph.

You will note that Shiny was advised to use Ars Alb 200 on a daily basis by another homeopath who had obviously did not know about Nat Sulph as the ultimate remedy for asthma but proceeded to rile me instead. Shiny fell for his advice and her son was suffering unnecessarily and she has not recorded that the boy had occasion to use the Ars Alb 200 at all as his asthma was controlled within a few hours of his taking the first dose which I had recommended on March 26 although she at first thought that my prescription was not suitable for her son due to the interference of other pseudo classical homeopaths who are so programmed in their understanding of this science that they cannot 'see the wood for the trees.'

Please ensure that both your husband and son do not use steroids if they choose to use this therapy as it will antidote the gentle curative effect of the Nat Sulph 6c in the wet dose.

Joe

Thanks. I will order Nat Sulph for my son and husband.

Regarding croup:
THe Emergency Room doctor told me that with croup the throat (he touched under his chin to indicate where) is inflamed. So, person has trouble breathing in. Its caused by the same virus as larangytis, but symptoms are more severe in kids. He said my son was at that time having little or no asthma since there was no audible wheezing but he did hear other respiratory noises in the lungs which he said is being echoed due to 'strider' from the throat (again touched his hand under his chin). In asthma person has trouble breathing out only he said and it makes a whistling noise.

My son has not had asthma episode for a few mths and thats because of the steroid (Flovent). If I take him off, he would get asthma. We are keen to help him overcome this health issue and would like to try the nat sulph as per your instructions (minus steroid).

From the information that you have given me I believe that both your husband and your son do have asthma.

I believe that the Nat Sulpn 6c therapy can help them both and it is very likely that they will be able to turn a new page in their lives in a few days after you commence on this therapy.

Please post their response on the day after you start but please make sure that you follow my instructions precisely in the case of both patients.
