The ABC Homeopathy Forum

the only cure for dermographism

HELLO!! FOLKS FINALLY A SOLUTION FOR A ALLERGY THAT WILL BE WITH YOU FOR MORE THAN A DECADE..'NO!! CAN CURE IT YOUR SELF' HERE'S HOW...

After struggling for a cure for this particular and very peculiar skin allergy I consulted the best of the doctors for a remedy but the only answer I would get is,
we need to test your blood, urine, blah, blah, blah.
Then I consulted another skin specialist who said 'Lab test will cost you a lot of money let me prescribe you some medicine and lets see how good your situation will be;
cause we cannot cure this allergy in a day or two but if these medicines work then you will need to continue taking these pill for more than a couple of years'
which i did follow the advice for my benefit.
But the pills were of heavy dose and i would get a massive head ache for at least 6 hours from morning to noon these were the know side effects forget about the unknown ones but I still continued but no respite from the pills either, this was affecting my work too then one fine day i started browsing the internet for answers and I was shocked to see the fact especially help section on dermographism in this web site that there are a lot of people suffering from this chronic itch from 20 long years;for example and still looking forward to take pill. I don’t know when it will end for me that’s what I was thinking back of my mind until I saw a particular message that says
'causes for dermographism' There was a list of food items and medicines that can cause all this starting from antibiotic medicine for ear infection and pain killer like aspirin etc and foods like sugar, wheat, bread, alcohol, pickle, honey, fruits etc.. This shows that either your allergy is caused due to sugary food or sweets, sweets fruits, honey, chocolates; avoid them. Bread, alcohol, anything that is fermented cause it has yeast which is a good bacteria for humans but the antibodies in your body are either not resistant to them or they are dead. All milk products these also has lot of good bacteria that is good if consumed but your body is rejecting them and thus all the itch and allergy so try to avoid all these foods for a couple of days and eat anything apart from them like cooked rice but not fermented ones and avoid eating sugar right from morning in your coffee, tea, milk etc , then your breakfast could ideally be corn flakes and lunch could contain barley, corn, leafy vegetables etc. This is what I did finally I tried eating the one which i should not like wheat, bread, milk, one by one on a daily basic until I came till sugar yes this was the culprit for me. on a sunny afternoon after traveling for about 1 1/2 hour ride to remote place i was offered coke and I could not resist and within minutes I got the disgusting itch back on my body and I concluded the study as sugar is the main reason for the problem. Today I eat every thing except my medicines and sugar. yes you need to give up all these at least for some time else you will end up looking like a pink baboon which i was and u might be after itching all over your body.Take this advise as a second had experience if you are also allergic to sugar than don’t consume any for minimum 6 months and try again and the same for any other foods also and try not to take any medicine prescribed for dermographism by doing this you will be improving your natural immune system and back to normal.I know it is very easy to advise someone and difficult to follow but this procedure will not only help you to be independent away from allopathic medicine which is sometime too much is too bad and can lead to unknown side effects which any will cause another two or three side effects sounds like a chain reaction but this is the hard fact of today’s modern world and there's much to be done to educate people. If you look back to history and see how our ancestors were able to cope up with all these kind of diseases the answer is natural medicine which is 100% accurate and 100% no side effects but in fact they act as a good immune builder not as a destroyer which is what we have excepted in our modern day life which a busy and end up paying our hard earned money into the doctors pocket...
SO I wish you all the best and I am open for feed backs and you can mail me at ravisgoyal'at'gamail

I Robbie,

Thank you for your reply, I have learnt to manage my allergy, most of the time its sugar that triggers some times deep fried foods spicy stuff and when I'm hungry too, that's cause when you are hungry you body releases stored sugar and that's why I get it back.

So how abt you how you managing your problem?

Yeah, I've dealt with it for 2 years and have realized that I shouldn't take the Antihistamines daily. This week, I've only taken the antihistamines twice (on the 3rd day with 2 days of no meds). I have been less drowsy/moody and I realized that sugar does trigger it. I avoided sugar in my green tea and realized the itching wasn't as bad, and with a little bit of Curel lotion and a fingertips worth of coconut oil on the hair every day, then the itching subsides to a point where it wouldn't bother me. However, the redness does show up after a shower or so, so I replaced my shower head and take the Zyrtec pill only when I feel its necessary. So I cut down with a few changes, nothing dramatic though

Robbiem5290 last decade
Robbie,

Here is a list of this you should avoid.

While taking shower make sure the water is warm and never hot.

Cotton clothes are the best, avoid polyester and tight clothes, let your skin breath.

Aloevera cream is very good to moisturise your skin. You can also use aloevera gel on your scalp it has no chemicals.

Stay away from fermented, and deep fried stuff.

Don't keep your self hungry, sugar in your body starts to work and you will get itching again so... eat your food on time and keep the redness away.

Keep your self cool mentally and physically. Cause this is stress related too.

I suffered severely from chronic hives, lip swells, eye swells
and dermagraphism for almost a year!!!!I did everything that you can
think of from washing wardrobe, replacing wardrobes, changing detergents, throwing
away all my perfumes, threw away my furniture, I EVEN MOVED!!!I looked and felt horrible
and helpless. I am what some consider a fairly attractive person and never was I stuck on
myself but this was beyond humbling. To see yourself disfigured every night and have
a condition that could sneak up on me anytime no matter where I was. One day I was shopping
for my husband's birthday present and I was having a great day and suddenly out of
no where my lip starting tingling and I knew it was the same feeling
I have when everything swells which doesn’t go away for like 24-48 hrs. I got in the car
and cried. I felt like that this was a condition that was going to run
my entire life and I would never feel pretty again. My husband was very supportive no matter
how disfigured my face looked he kept telling me everything would be ok. At the time
I felt it would never end and I was at my last nerve. I was taking Zerytec which would suppress
the hives but I was tired, hair loss, blurred vision, sluggish and it was making
me feel like a zombie. So I was one of those people searching for answers online,
books, on blogs, through allergist, NOTHING ! NO CURE
THEY SAID
until one day I
stopped looked around and realized that the thing that I had not tried that I really needed
to do was to was to pray and ask God to help me. I got on my knees and cried out to God
and said, 'I know u are out there, please please heal me' and I talked to him for weeks about
how I know that I'm not the perfect saint but that I really needed his help, I was even
starting to loose days at work and at one point I had to come to work with a mask on
because my face was swollen and disfigured.
So, I prayed and prayed and I kid u not,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SUDDENLY everything stopped.I had
Absolutely no symptoms!! So I thought it would come back, a few days went by , a week went by,
a few more and then months!!!!! Every since I prayed this finally ended for me. I said
all this to say the condition of these chronic hives, skin prints, rashes and anything
else for that matter is not to hard for God to handle TRUST ME!!! Just pray!! Wait and see
and just have faith that he can do it and he will!! I promise you we have nothing to loose
this did not disappear for no reason people suffer with this for but their stories
does not have to be yours. Your story could be my story and that is God is a healer
and I cried out to him and he answered!!!

I was having problems with chronic rashes & hives and I saw a NAET(Nambudripad's allergy elimination technique) specialist. I tried the homeopathic route first but it's so difficult to get to the root of the problem. After about 10 accupressure/accupuncture treatments, my problem was gone but I went on to have about 15 more over the course of 2 years. It cost me about $75 per treatment but it was money well spent. No one understands the pain you are going through unless they experience it themselves.

I think my 1 year old son has hives or dermographis. Does anyone know if the scratching can be due to dust mites, or is this condition due to more internal factors(like stress, allergy to foods, etc.) I gave him a couple of doses of benadryl but i'm trying to stop those as I don't want to push the problem deeper into his body. I'm going to take take him to see my homeopath soon. His older sister had a scratching problem when she was around the same age but it was more symptoms of eczema, and we had to cut out some foods from her diet for about 6 months and our homeopath gave her a remedy that she took like 2 times and her skin healed and 4 years later the problem has not reoccured. Hopefully she will be able to help him.

Wait,so your saying that if i just avoid sugar that my dermographism will go away? Sorry its just ive had this for 3 years and im 14 and im just reallly really frustrated with this condition and i wanna make sure that im doing the correct thing.

I was just diagnosed with dermographism yesterday. I had this itching that would welt up when I scratched it for about 2 months and finally got sick of it. I was a little annoyed to hear that there aren't many cures for it. One thing that really helps me is ice. Within seconds of putting it on the spot that itches, it goes away. Unfortunately it's not a perminent cure but at least it'll take away the itching temporarily.

I am 22. Dermoghraphism is no less a curse. I can't concentrate on my studies as it starts itching at any point of time & many times in the whole body in a single moment. Wheals lasts for around 30 minutes. It is quite embarrassing when people notice it. Please help.

It is not sugar I think it is more to do with fasting. Sugar itself is not the issue. Try just fasting my bet is you get the same deal if not even better. I think fasting just slows the production of histamine and mast cells and entire immune response in general. It is not the cause. But I agree people eat way too much sugar I stopped and went from 92KG to 70KG in 6 months. WOW all that weight loss from just sugar.

Won't cure this with sugar it is abnormal mast cells at the genetic level I suspect. Mutations and we can't fix that quickly but you may have enough info left somewhere that genetic expression in time fixes this. Or it may be wacked out antibody production of unknown origin (perhaps a medicine or allergy triggered) and being so full of it it we get cross linking when cells are compressed. The idea we have weak mast cells is nonsense and has no evidence to back it up. I would go more for over production of granules in mast cells and possibly too many mast cells (genetic blip). So they work normally but dump way too much mediators into the blood kicking off a chain reaction. All of this suggest why in some this clears over a long time (A VERY LONG TIME!). These things the body can change to a degree over decades but not months. Studies do show 50% of us clear in a decade - that is a fact we have data on that. This makes us different from other lower down autoimmne issues they never clear usually at that number - and are progressive often not regressive as often this becomes.

Stopping antihistamines is silly as the histamine can cause real damage inside you. You need to take what you can tolerate. Histamine causes a chain reaction you need to slow it to stop a big chain going throughout you systemically (histamine triggers more degradation away from the pressure/friction site - bad news!). You can see this by the fact many of us have a lesser wheeling further from the centre point - or the friction causes a wheal elsewhere. I agree though my big worries over these is antihistamines may act like opioids (studies show they do not of course) and increase the number of receptors on cells throughout you. The zyrtec withdrawal may be this phenomena as receptors cells decrease when the drug is removed but initially they are flung wide open. Opioids do exactly this on withdrawal.

Might be wise to add nalcrom to the mix to try and stabilise mast cells also. I have had some help from this.

The future? Xolair appears to clog up mast cells with so much IGE that they stop degranulating. Effectively deactivating mast cells. Job done. Does this lead to c doubt it. Does it cause infections - not in a modern world mast cells are obsolete with modern medical tech really I suspect IF push come to shove. Not to mention plenty mast cell stabilising new allergy concepts are on drug companies minds as they are 'cash cows' (ever wondered why we have like 50 antihistamines compounds known to us!). So we may get something in time to help us more.

As for natural sadly all that failed for me but I did try literally everything mentioned online. I find diets best natural thing to go for - just eat well and very fresh to avoid histamine in foods! I find only anti-histamies help symptoms and nalcrom. Steroids are suicide in a packet for this and immune suppression is useless as it does not affect histamine. But it can reduce mast cell production from bone marrow but boy that is a risky game to play!

Anyway sucks to have this very painful I find and we can;t use pain killers as they make it worse not better. Tough real tough!

Hi!

From my own experience.

I am turning 23 in less than two weeks. I've had dermographism since I was 11 or 12. I noticed it came after I got sick when I was in gr 6, and showed up if i felt too hot or too cold at first. Then it became more frequent to whenever I scratch myself, and has been ever since.

I noticed some pictures on the internet that some people's dermographism looks slightly different from mine - not sure if that that's relevant but it's what i've noticed.

A few things I've noticed is that I become itchy when it is too hot or too cold - like my body is under physical stress. It also gets itchy when i'm mentally stressed like anxious or very tired or emotional. Anyone else? It goes away after about 15 min. I think. And I don't think my condition is extreme so I don't take pills to get rid of it but I do wish it wasn't around because it's embarassing.

I have heard of things like taking cold showers help - which makes sense to me cause I like to take really hot showers and I like to be really warm. I also read somewhere that going on a gluten-free diet helps.

I was told from a nutritionist-savvy friend to TRY GOING ON A SUGAR-FREE DIET for 2 WEEKS. I only lasted 10 days (as a student it was expensive for me when I live at home and I'm the only one eating this food so I bought it). There's so much sugar in everything - although I allowed some natural sugars. but I noticed it helped immensely. I was less itchy and my hives weren't as raised.

So I can support what rob is saying here from first hand experience if any of you have not yet tried it or any of the other things I heard. I'm also sure the mikekay has some sort of point.

Anyway, I would try following a natural path than taking medication. And honestly let us all know so we can help each other out.

I hope my notes helped.

All the best!

Hot & Cold is the blood vessels. Histamine triggers them to open and close. That is really why we get red glowing patches and lines. Our blood vessels and nerves are messed up by the histamine. My best is you sweat too much in summer too and are freezing cold in winter. That is all that histamine. Cold showers might help if you are in a bad phase to tighten the blood vessels for a short period and and clam things down but in all reality it is pointless an anti-histamine (my fav levocetirizine) works better in this regard.

It is either mutations of the cells or IGE being over produced one of the two. Anti-IGE therapy should be available within the decade and they continue to study mast cells so we will know soon enough I suspect.

Gluten free helps as you feel overall SO MUCH better after about a month or so. Brutal withdrawal from wheat though. Afterwards you feel great! If you are a student unless your parents are supporting you I doubt you can afford to go wheat free because wheat is a staple and cheap - when I was a student I eat a great deal of it. Sorry to hear you are studying with this I can imagine it is annoying at times.

No net pics don't look like me either they are extreme forms the docs like to take medical photography of. They love to do that for cases that get their papers attention. Us sever but not dramatic types you wont see online.

I have stabilised since my last post if you want any support if it bothers you this issue let me know (profile has an email for me) I can give you a few tips but if you have had this from 11/12 my bet is you have mastered it more than I. I got this at 33 (34 now soon 35). Although I suspect I have always had it to a degree.

I have all the issues you have you are not imagining it!

Sugar free is impossible BTW your body makes its own. That is the fuel we use to live. But low sugar is defo wise because being fat this is a bad idea. When I got a bit chubby it was awful because skin rubs...keeping slim is wise with this...and you feel better on a low sugar/carb diet (note I did not say no as that is silly and not possible).

It is a pain but it could be worse...and lastly you are far from alone in dealing with this there are many of us out there!

to eliminate dermatographia in 2 days I took sugar out of my diet. Nothing with sugar in it and nothing that converts to sugar in your body. No alcohol, no fruit, no beans, no grains, BUT you can eat meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, and eventually a have quinoa, buckwheat, millet, and amaranth. I rarely have that. To this day I am free of dermatographia. It is important to take Probiotics to replenish the good flora in your intestine. For more information look up Candida online and follow the diet for Candida overgrowth. Either the Ultimate Candida diet or The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates.

I most likely developed this with the combo that many have Stress, Strep and an antibiotic. I was in my last semester of classes for my doctorate so stress was at an all time high.

I have been to three docs. None of which told me what I discovered about the sugar. I felt confirmed with the first post. I began a while ago a no sugar diet. It is the first time I have not wanted to claw my skin like crazy. I did discover that the more you scratch the more you itch.

The problem for me is that when I ran, which I use to do all the time I felt like my throat was closing up. My dr gave me an epi-pen just in case. Today, I want to celebrate since it is the first day that I was physically active and did not have the hives on my legs or another allergic reaction.

I completely agree with the No sugar diet. It is the hardest diet but the results for me are totally worth it.

theres an ebook written on amazon kindle called "How I Cured My Dermographism". And I used to have it but after a couple days i had immediate relief, no more itching or bad welts then after that it went away. Im glad I did that because this skin condition was so irritating and uncomfortable to me
