Bee Sting on Lip - major swelling!!!

Hi there. My husband was handling his bees yesterday and got stung on the left hand. It swelled up pretty good but he never complains. Unlike the success I have with the kids and I, I have not had luck in the past with apis or ledum or any other homeopathics with my husband.

Today he was back at the hives and got stung on the top left lip- it is HUGE, like an inch or more out..this has occurred over the period of 2 hrs and getting worse.

I tried one does of apis 200c and nothing.

he says it doesn't hurt, just swollen.

i don't want to start throwing everything at him... i thought of ledum but will wait, any thoughts?

thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi There

I'm currently Fiji based, but learned quite a few local cures. For bee stings I had when on a hiking trip was treated with the leaf of a plant called 'mile a minute'. Another time a friend got stung, he was given a rub over the patch with the 'clothes blue' that we use to get our clothes whiter. Both remedies worked.

thanks for that. I have used ice compresses 2 times, a plant here called plantain and have chewed and made a poultice, also raw grated potato poultice and onion is next.

I have also tried ledum 30c.

the top lip is SO VERY swollen, I've never seen anything like it!!! All the way from one side to the other at least an inch or more out (I wish I could find my camera!) it's 5x it's normal size! Since you can also feel the heat coming off it and the hand, but not red, I tried apis again but in 30c potency. I thought maybe there might have been something wrong with my remedies.

No improvement at all so far. Since he's the owner he has to be in at work tonight and he deals with hundreds of people all night. ;-(

any other thoughts or suggestions welcomed.

I have used Arnica 30c to reduce swelling and contusion after an injury.

I wonder if this can help to reduce the swelling on his lip.

It is best used in the wet dose -- 3 pellets in a little water and a teaspoonful taken every 2 hours with the Apis in the same manner.

To Murthy,

Good to see you back on the ABC as it is some time since I last saw you here. I do hope that you will continue to visit the ABC as your contributions were and are very welcome as we have only a very few dedicated persons who respond to members who post their ailments. We unfortunately also have some members who seem to use the ABC to drum up business for themselves by posting a questionnaire and referring the patients to their website where they then offer to treat them for the high fees that are common in the US.

I do hope that you have read some of my posts about Asthma, GERD, Eczema, Fistula etc. on the ABC which have resulted in some outstanding success especially in the case of Asthma.

As you are aware I have often been criticized for using my own non classical method of prescribing for these ailments and so far there has not been a single case of any aggravation or other distress and they have invariably been successful. I am aware that you too have subscribed to this view which is fortunately not shared on the ABC which as you may note gets between 30 to 50 new posts daily as against about 3 to 5 on the Hpathy forum.

I believe that the classical method can be used successfully if it is done with the assistance of Homeopathic software as the mind of the homeopath alone cannot possibly sift through all the factors that are required to make a prescription 'classical'. I believe that it is the duty of a Homeopath to follow the first Aphorism of its founder Hahnemann which reads:
'The physician's high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure, as it is termed'

In the end result it will be seen that it is not the method used that counts, but the cure that has resulted, which is of importance to the patient.

Dear Joe

It is good that you are getting positive feedback from the patients whom you have been helping.

Natrum Sulph is indeed one of the prime medicines for Asthma. It is possible that many patients may get benefitted by it. But,there are others who may need a different remedy.

Similar is the case with Nat.Phos for flatulance. Many many people get benefitted by it.

The reason why none of your patients are reporting an aggravation is the low potencies you normally prescribe.

Infact, the treatment for any chronic problem has to be done with daily doses of low potencies to start with, and it is all the better with the wet doses you have been recently suggesting.

However a stage may come, where they may have to up their potencies and reduce the frequency.

I don't like the tenor of discussions on some of the threads. People are discussing personalities rather than issues.

I maay differ with you in many aspects, but, I will definitely appreciate you as a person.

You have your beliefs, and you are trying to help people the way you know. It is upto the persons getting the advice to take it or leave it.

As I said somewhere else, I happen to be a moderator at Hpathy, and it is my duty to uphold the policies of that forum.

I might have edited/deleted some of the posts made by you there, but, it doesn't mean I can't be civil with you.

I do visit here occassionally, and contribute once in a while. My role as I see here is not that of a prescriber, but, to help the patients with more info, whereever I can.

Regards

Murthy
