Throat problem with Thryroid-like Symptoms

Hi,

I'm requesting your assitance urgently.

I have a sore throat that feels swollen, tight and constricted. Sometimes it feels as though someone or something is choking me. The problem is worse on swallowing. I feel some relief when I drink an infusion of ginger but the problem always returns eventually. I get some relief also from drinking lots of water or gargling it, and eating apples also relaxes my throat a little.

The condition seems to be aggravated by acid reflux which I'm presently trying to bring under control by natural means. Maybe that's why it returns after I
ve taken the ginger to reduce the inflammation, but if I take a lot of ginger, instead of healing it seems to aggravate the problem. Either that or the acid reflux must have flared up again in the meantime.

I have seen Joe's excellent posts on Nat Sulph 6x and Arnica 6c and have in mind to follow that for both the acid reflux and it's effect on the throat. My concern right now is my throat itself.

I've read all the threads relating to throat complaints, but here's where I'm confused. Is this an ordinary throat problem or a thryroid related throat pro blem, and, if the latter, would the treatment protocl be different than for ordinary throat problems?

As I also noticed a small hard lump in on e of my lymph glands under my Adam's Apple, I was suspecting thryroid cancer (does it affect the lymph glands?), but the lump has not grown in 6 months and is not growing now, so I'm not really sure that it's cancer. Besides that, I do not have most of the symptoms either of hypo or heperthyroidism as far as I know. I am a little overweight, that's all.

I have just got rid of asthma by natural means (at least I no longer have to take asthma medications), which is a minor miracle as I was on steroids and everything else for 14 years.

Right now I'm on a very careful acid reflux friendly diet and taking no medications at all, having recently stopped taking Cimetidine and Gaviscon (which I'm only on for a few days at a time, anyway). Sometimes if my throat gets really sore and constricted I take Nystatin for a couple of days and that seems to relieve it a little but it never goes away. Two months ago, I was at the hospital with this problem and had hydrocortisone injected which did seem to relieve it.

I've done everything to try to remedy the problem but it remains. What, please, can you suggest?

Should I take the throat remedies even if it's a thyroid problem (and if so what?), or should I take remedies that are more specifically for throat problems associated with thryroid troubles (and, again, if so, what?)?

I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Thank you. What potency do you recommend for me to start with, and how should I take it?

If as you state you are using drugs for your GERD your problem with your throat is due to the gastric juice which you have treated with the various drugs that you have used but which did not prevent them from being regurgitated up into your throat, attacking the delicate musculature of the throat, thereby resulting in your inablilty to swallow.

In other words you have what is perhaps an advanced case of GERD and if so, I would recommend that you use the standard therapy that I have perfected to treat this ailment -- Nat Phos 6x and Arnica 30c which many patients have used very successfully.

Dosage in your case if chronic:
3 tablets of Nat Phos 6x after 3 meals
Arnica 30c in the wet dose 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.

I note that you have mentioned about some suspected thyroid involvement and it is best to consult an Endocrinologist for this problem. Tests will be ordered to verify whether you have any thyroid involvement.

However if as I presume by just reading your resume, you have an advanced case of GERD, I am confident that within a few weeks, you should be out of the woods and on the road to recovery.

I am indeed surprised that other members on this forum did not respond to your thread and I too did see it but your title made me feel that it could be a problem that I did not have any experience in treating.

It was your request in your other post that made me look into your case.

Joe,

Thank you for this advice. Do you recommend anything else to relieve the throat discomfort?
