cut hand with axe

Hello and thanks in advance for your help. My husband has cut his hand with an axe. I have been giving him arnica for the shock/swelling...it's not really that big or bad a cut but it is very swollen. It is quite painful and still very swollen. He has been taking arnica all day and it doesnt seem to be reducing the swelling although it is not very bruised to look at. I was going to use calendula on him but wanted to wait to make sure it was totally clean before i did that. He went to doctor today so will start on that now. Any other suggestions what I should do next?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You have done right by giving him Arnica. I presume that you gave him the 30c potency. This can be given every 3 hours preferably in the wet dose. Arnica will dull the pain and also help in the healing process.

The Calendula is indicated as a disinfectant and can be used under a sticking plaster or bandage depending on the size and severity of the wound.

Here is a good compilation. Look at the two Wounds and Cuts items:

A much higher dosage of Arnica given immediately after the accident would have been more appropriate. Is he up-to-date on tetanus shot? If not, don't forget hypericum.

Along with Arnica....give him Ledum 200 in alteration.....it is the anit-tetnus of homeopathy and the medicine for punctured wounds.

You can give Arnica 200 and Ledum 200 in alteration every two hours.
Apply Calendula externally definaltely.

The healing with these meds will be much faster than any allopathic med....I say this from lot of experience....not just blabber.

Thank you all for your replies. I have been giving Arnica 30C I do not have it in 200, only 30C and 1M. Forgot about Ledum for tetanus, will do this now...

Pankaj, thanks for the correction on tetanus. I thought both hypericum and ledum and a role, and since this was a cut and no a puncture wound that hypericum might be more appropriate. It might also help with the pain (although that wasn't mentioned).

Hello Daisy,

A cut wound is a punctured wound.

Hypericum is most useful when injury is at a place where there is a cluster of nerves like fingers, toes, jaws etc.

Ledum is the anti-tetnus of homeopathy.
