Unsuccessful remedies - help!

My 15 month old son has had two swollen glands (one inguinal and one cervical) for about 6-7 weeks. The inguinal is much larger than the cervical and has been from the beginning. They haven't changed in size or quantity. It started with a virus that cycled through various stages starting with a rash, then a fever for four days, swelling of the eyelid and surrounding skin, and then hives when the fever broke. All other symptoms have subsided, but the glands are still swollen. The pediatrician feels that there is nothing to worry about since we've had two CBCs, tested for mono, Lyme, JRA and had a sed rate done. Everything is just perfect, so what could be causing the swollen glands??

I tried, based on my first recommendation, one dose of Silicia then four days later Photolacca. The Slicia initiated a reduction in swelling, but then the glands came back up and the Photolacca did nothing. The next course of action recommended was Pulsatilla, which has done absolutely nothing for him. I have since tried the Silicia again, which made a very slight change in the glands, but now what? Do I continue on this course, do I stop them, but the response is not enough to make them go totally away. Should I be trying something different?

He is 15 months old, very energetic and always happy. He's been clingy on and off lately, possibly related to teething. He loves to socialize, loves the park, and any activity outside. He doesn't sleep through the night, but usually puts himself back to sleep when he wakes which averages once or twice a night. He is a consistent sleeper though, naps on schedule, goes to sleep at the same time every night and wakes happy.

If you need anything else, please feel free to ask, I wasn't sure what kind of information would be helpful.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You could consider Mercurius-ketnote free discharges(saliva-lots). And also consider Belladonna. They may be used in succsession as they are complements of one another.

Thank you Sycotic. What is 'saliva-lots'? And when you say that these two can be used in succession, what would you recommend? How many doses of each and how many days, etc? I am new to homeopathy.

I would be open to any other suggestions. Even with the negative test results we had, I get nervous about the glands. The pediatrician suggests that swollen glands are very common and normal in children this age, but I have a hard time believing that since swollen glands are a reaction to the body fighting something off.

If Silicea helped ...then Silicea will help again.

Just move up to higher potency. Which potency did you give earlier ???

Pankaj,
I used 30C Silicea. I was told to use only one dose in succession with the Photolacca and that didn't seem to work. This time (about 5 weeks later) I used it for three doses so far and the reduction doesn't seem to have continued and was not nearly as much as the first time I used it. Should I continue using this? Is a higher dose available over the counter, so to speak? And how should that be taken?

If you can get 200C potency get it and give him a dose.

If not....use 30C to make a wet dose and give it to him...that moves up the potency.

Doctors suggest one dose just to see which med works.

Now that you know Silicea worked give more as suggested.

Should I try the wet dose of 30C to see if it produces a reduction in his glands first then buy 200C? How many doses are suggested before determining if the treatment is working well enough or not? Should I give him the wet dose (how much water is used? I don't know how much I can get into my son at one time) at the same schedule as recommended on the bottle, Ie - three times a day? I think I can get the 200C potency on this website in the granules, is that recommended? I don't know the difference between granules and pills. Sorry for all of the questions, I'm new to this and just want to make sure I am doing the right thing and watching for the right signs.

Do you have the pills or liquid of Silicea 30C ??

I have the tiny round pills.

Ok..10 pills in a glass of water...size of a coke can.

Let the pills dissolve by just moving the glass in your hand.....or use a bottle with a cap that you can shake.

Give two spoons of the water to the child every three hours of his wake time.
Use spring water / mineral water.

Ok, I will start that now. How long should I continue to try this, if I don't see results right away? I know to stop when I do see results, if this works.

I just thought of another question. Can I put this solution in the refrigerator to draw from? When you said two spoons, I assume you mean two teaspoons? I used a teaspoon medicine dropper. And one other thing that might seem silly, I'm assuming it's ok to stop the doses at night when he's sleeping and resume the every three-hour dose during the day. If you can think of anything else I should know, please elaborate (smile). Thanks so much for your help, I REALLY appreciate it. I was beginning to feel like I was at a dead end.

I just bought some books on homeopathy for the family and children. I can't wait to read them! I find this very interesting.

Good advise Pankaj. Sorry Jessica I didnt get back to to you sooner. A difining symptom of Mercury is an over production of saliva. This is what I was refering to. Do please however follow Pankaj's advice at this time. Store remedy solution only for a few days. Do allow child to sleep unhindered. Regards

What are the odds that this is all vaccine induced, does anyone know? He had his MMR and Chickenpox vaccines about 3-4 weeks prior to the start of it all. If that is the case, how do we reverse it?

Just a thought....

Can be so !!

Silicea is one of the meds for that....another is Thuja.

I'm assuming I should continue the wet Silicea for now. There still has been no response from the glands, but I will continue, as it's only been 3 or 4 doses since I started the wet rememdy versus giving him the pills directly. Does that sound right?

Hi again! Ok so this morning, the groin gland seems a tiny bit smaller. I can't tell if the gland on his neck is much smaller or not. Do I continue treatment until I see more of a reaction or should I stop and let the body try to take over?

Jessica

Keep giving the medicine...silicea requires to be repeated.

Oh I am glad I asked then, thank you! Still 3-4 days?

What I find interesting is that the glands reduce slightly shortly after a dose, then they go back up before the next dose. Does that seem normal?

There shud be a more permanent rduction after some more of the med is given .

It's me again - with an update. It's been three days and I am still getting the reaction of slight gland reduction (about an hour after the dose is given) then they swell back up again before the next dose is given. Should I continue or does this indicate a need for a change in the remedy, potency or timing of doses? I have ordered a 200C potency of Silicea as well, but don't know when that will arrive. Should I use that if this doesn't seem to work?

I know that Silicea tends to be more slow acting, but I am feeling like the glands go down just to come right back up again, it's discouraging.

In addition to the above question, my son is beginning to reject the liquid doses, crying and fighting. With the increased difficulty, will I get the same results with the pills over a longer span of time?

Give him one dose of 200C potency...add a little amont og glucose to the water ...so that it has a sweet taste...little bit.

After 48 hours give him a dose of Thuja 200C.
