confused

Hello..
I recently started looking into homopathy. I went to a very nice Homopath that instructed me to give my seven year old daughter (who is having problems with allergies) Nux vomica Homaccord mixed with alot of other things (that I don't know what the names are). Now my neighbor (who is studing homopathy)told me that this is not a good remedy. She says that 'mixing' remedies are not good for you because if it doesn't work it's harder to treat it later? I hope this is making sense. I have not given my daughter the remedy (partly because I don't know what's in it) I have an appointment tomorrow. I do know that my neighbor is a classical homopath and the other isn't. Can anyone explain to me the difference? Which one is better? Thank you in advance!

THe classical way is to give only one remedy at a time. This may be given once (one dose) or a watery solution given daily . The interview is generally lenghty and seeks to address not the symptomology only but the underlying root cause. One remedy is given at a time for a variety of reasons.1. Manegment of the case; if response was good from a combomation formula- which remedy worked? You cant know and cant properly manage the case.2. Remedies have been proven single not in combination with other. Combos are a lazy way of prescribing and can not truley be considered homeopathic (like cure like). Each remedy is unique and has subltelties just as we are each individual. Classical homeopaths (for the most part) try to follow Hahnemann's system -he invented homeopathy. The other methods used I cannot speak for, generally refered to as a thereputic approach the goal seems to try and treat or manage symptoms without neccessarily addressing the causation or root. The drawback is that homeopathic remedies can suppress symptoms which ultimately is the same as conventional medicine, and is not curative. Hahnemanns goal was to CURE. And he taught us how to do this.
ps seasonal allergies should be treated when the patient is well (off season )

Dear Kathy, I would have to agree with 'Sycotic' above (nice to see another REAL Homoeopath, here btw).

The application of combination remedies is not good Homoeopathy at all. The rule is, one remedy at a time, which is then only changed once benefit has ceased, and the case has been retaken. I would therefore suggest seeing a good classical Homoeopath in your area for treatment of this condition, or, if you can actually identify the specific allergens, possibly applying them in low potencies, one at a time, which often provides relief. As a follow up though, the actual cause of these allergies should be looked into to provide complete cure.

Good luck :)
