ear problems

hello,
1.i've been having problems with my ears for about 2 yrs now. I have ringing in my ears and constant pressure. often i get headaches and i have become very sensitive to high pitched sounds. The pain is located inside the ear and also around my jaw. When i wear hair bands it seems to increase the pressure. I find it hard to be around loud noise because it causes discomfort. I find by cracking my jaw and blowing through my nose ( while holding it shut) I can alleviate the pain for a few moments. I have been to ear specialist that said i have lost some high frequency hearing but that everything else is okay. They said that to alleviate the pressure i should go on a decongestant so i have been taking aeries.
2. both ears inside the ear behind the ear, just below the temples and at the jaw.
3. i went scuba diving 2 years ago and thatÂ’s when i first noticed that something was off. My hearing remained the same but i have control over popping ear drums. the pressure headaches and ringing just began in April of this year after a loud night and persisted ever since. I was also sick at the time and i thought it was a side effect of the cold but after i got better the ringing and pressure remained.
5. it feels better when im in complete silence ( may be psychological), when i pop my ears, crack my jaw or blow through my nose. Also after a hot bath.
6. my sleep pattern was initially thrown off by the ringing but now that i have adapted to it, it no longer bothers me.
7. I am sensitive to high pitched sounds and loud noises cause discomfort.
8. I am scared that I may loose my hearing and its causing me a lot of worry. but i still want to go to concerts and clubs without worrying about increasing my damage. I wear earplugs in all loud environments and when i sleep as well. when I have these headaches or ear discomfort i am easily irritable and frustrated.
9. no problems with food.

Dear bballga

Quite an interesting case, I presume when your hearing was tested they actually checked for a perforation of the eardrum too? as such symptoms coming on after a 'loud night' would immediately suggest to me this could be the case.

Remedy wise, only a few spring to mind, given the aetiology, and I would be inclined to first try Arnica. Have you taken this in the past?

hi hahnemania,

when i first( 2yrs ago) went to the doctor they gave me a hearing test and a simple check. The first doctor said my ear drums were fine. Then after the pressure and discomfort began i went to a second specailist ( 3 weeks ago). he said that everything was fine and couldnt see a problem other then my hearing loss of high frequecy sounds. He said that i couldnt do anything about the pressure and discomfort. I was dissappointed with this and have been looking for alternative ways to deal with the problems. I am currently only taking a decongestant ( aerius) which is for allergies my family dr gave it to me to allievate the congestation and it does help slighty so i have remained on it. thanks
