Sepia Constitution and Headaches

I am without a doubt a typical Sepia constitutional type. My Homeopath, who is now retired, gave me high doses of Sepia for post-partum depression and it worked amazingly well. I often take a 30c for herpes and PMS moodiness and it works great.
Lately I have been having headaches that fit the Sepia description as well. I took a 30c once last week but it didn't seem to help the headache. I know that Sepia is supposed to be taken once and work for a long time, but maybe the dose isn't strong enough or I'm not taking it often enough for headaches/migraines. The headaches start out really slowly in the morning and go away slowly. They can last for more than 24 hours. Sometimes I feel like I have a nail jamming into my forehead, near my left eye. But it feels better when I put pressure on the area with my fingers. The headaches make me dizzy and a bit naseaous. I have a hungry feeling, but food doesn't really help. I want to close my eyes and be in a warm, dark room, alone. Sometimes it helps to cry because it feels like the headache could get out of my head somehow that way. Sitting up straight and breathing deeply seems to bring some relief. It does seem like the headaches are worse before and during my period. I like to drink my water cold and I hate wearing socks in the summertime. Any advice on Sepia dosing for migraines? Or should I try Ignatia maybe? That remedy seemed close to what I'm experiencing also. If I need a dose higher than 30c, where does a non-pracitioner find such a dose to purchase?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Look at Nux Vomica. Sepia is sometimes consider a chronic Nux Vom. Particularily if there has been an upset or disapointment.

Dear Ladykaz.

There could be one of two reasons for the failure of Sepia in your present condition.

1/. It could be that Sepia was mereley indicated in the past, and has now outlived it's usefullness, and these new problems are a new 'layer' coming to the forefront. Too many people (practitioners included)asign a remedy as the 'constitutional' because of a good result from a remedy, without looking into the case further.

or 2/. That the POTENCY (as you suggest) has outlived it's usefullness, and needs to be increased.

Personally if you have had a good strong reaction to Sepia in the past, my advice would be to increase the potency slightly and see if this provides further improvement before abandoning the remedy altogether, in keeping with true Homoeopathic principles. I would suggest a 200c single dose (or a few doses on the same day), and wait for a reaction. If no further improvement is observed, then the remedy has probably come to the end of it's usefullness for you, and you should select another.

In answer to your question, a 200c may be found from many Homoeopathic pharmacies online, the one I personally use (due to the high quality of their remedies, and adhesion to strict Classical metods of production)is Helios Homoeopathics, the contact details of which may be found through google.

I hope this helps.

When I was younger I was prescribed Sepia by a chiropractor when I told him about my headaches (which I had since the age of nine). He told me to take Sepia (not sure of the dose, but 6 something or 30 something), 3-4 under the tongue at the first sign of a headache. If the headache was not gone i 45 minutes, to take a second dose. I almost never had to take the second dose. I gave it to all my girlfriends and it worked every time for them too. He told me for prevention to take one dose at mittelschmerz (the mid point of the menstrual month) and then a dose every day for the whole week before my period. I took Sepia this way for a couple of years and then my headaches got lots better, and I hardly had them. At nine, I started my periods and I notice that my headaches always were worse 2-3 days before my period and eased up slightly when the bleeding started. So I think this chiropractor was correct in telling me to take Sepia this way.

I am not a homeopath, but I just wanted to relate my experience to you. I too had so many symptoms of a Sepia constitution and Ignatia fits me really well too. Good luck.
