Did a cleanse and found out I am pregnant

Hello, I did a World Organics Mega Cleanse for 10 days...started 5 days after I conceived (pretty sure about that)...One of the items said it had Cascara and Butternut root and do not take while pregnant...will this cause birth defects or is more so that it does not induce labor? There were so many other herbs listed on there, and I hope that I haven't done anything life changing. (Makes me very upset because I put off this cleanse for over a week, and finally decided to do it.)

Also, I was taking a Dong Quai herbal remedy to support healthy female functions (guess I was functioning properly), but only before and right during conception...again birth defects or just because it could induce labor?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
People should give caution to read the instructions given on the label of the products. They have specified that '..and do not take while pregnant...'

So its better to follow the instructions.

Being anxious only can complicate the situation.

For detox, the key is taking plenty of fluids, right diet, proper exercise to sweat out(believe me sometimes toxic goes out via sweat).

If you want to read about homeopathic remedy I'll suggest you to read Nux';s antidotal relationship with herbs.

I wouldn't have taken it if I had KNOWN I was pregnant. A test at that time would not have even confirmed that if I had wanted to check before hand. Being pregnant has been a total surprise since I wasn't suppose to be able to.

Dear lulu, don't worry. The reason for the caution is indeed the fact that these herbs can induce labour, they do not cause birth deffects, and it is highly unlikely that they will have any effect at all on your pregnancy when used at such an early stage, I would though NOT use them again while you are pregnant, which I'm sure from your anxiety I don't even have to say!

I would also be cautious abut using ANY medicinal substances while pregnant, regardless of what most people would have us believe, it is only logical that everything you ingest, baby ingests also, and this is the case whether these be herbs or allopathic drugs (unless of course you have been prescribed the latter, and stopping them may endanger your health, where you shuld speak to your allopathic physician).

I wish you a successful pregnancy :)
