The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Cystic Acne

Hi Mr. De Livera,

I recently registered with the abc homeopathy Web site and have read tons of
advice you have given regarding cystic acne. I wasn't sure if I posted on abc
if you would respond, so I wanted to contact you directly, but would be happy
to post my inquires on the forum.

I am a 22 year old female who has been battling cystic acne for the last four
years. I had moderate acne in high school, but nothing too severe. When I
entered college, I went through a traumatic experience that left me with a
great deal of post traumatic stress, and the appearance of my cystic acne, on
my cheeks, jawline, and most recently, on my neck.

I have literally tried absolutely everything for my skin problems. After
every Rx from the dermatologist failed me or provided mediocre results, I
turned to internal cleansing. I have performed numerous cleanses, including
colon, liver and candida. I exercise daily, eat very healthy and drink a ton
of water. Dermatologists have now told me that Accutane is my only option,
which I refuse to take.

Although all of my efforts to clear up my skin have left me feeling physically
great and healthy, my skin has still not cleared up. In fact, after stopping
oral contraceptives and beginning Prozac in May, the cysts are worse than
ever.

An endochronologist I visited last week revealed that all my hormone levels
seemed normal, but prescribed a non-sedating anxiety Rx to supress
subconscious stress...?

My current regimen includes expensive topical acne products (DDF), daily 10
minute steams and nightly application of tea tree oil and hydrocortisone
cream.

After reading your posts about Arnica, I was intrigued. I would greatly
appreciate any advice you could give me regarding this treatment. I believe
you recommend 1 drop of 30c wet dose Arnica in a 400ml bottle of drinking
water, banged 3-5 times against your hand? I just wanted to check that you
think this recommendation would be effective for me as well?

Thank you so much for any help you could give me. It seems like you have
really helped a lot of people with your knowledge.

Sincerely,
dtowngirl

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Usually Antimony Crudum 30 once a day works good on cystic acne.

If skin is oily also take Thuja but straight from the plant. Chew a little leaf once a day. Espacially if you have bloating in the stomach. Thuja is for everything leaky and oily.

Silica is for Long term acne care.

Sorry, I didn't notice that you addressed this post to Mr Joe De Livera.

What stood out in your post about your acne is the correlation between your skin and stress, so much so that it appears that the acne is a dermatological stress response - and more cystic the acne, the more is a symptom of, or reaction to, an interior issue in the body, whether it be hormonal, gastric etc.
I think the main goal is to identify what the underlying issue is, and you seem to have found it.

I would posit (tenuously) that you need to get to the bottom of that traumatic experience / traumatic stress, and in addressing this you will treat the acne, whether u like it or not really!

So find a very good homeopath in your area and explain your case, explain the onset of the acne and the relationship between your skin and the stress you have experienced - you need to find the right remedy here, but it might not be a 'typical' acne remedy cos you'll be addressing 'deeper' issues. Arnica might help, of course it might, as it is indeed indicated for acne indurata where there is symetry to the outbreaks. But i urge you to work deeper ...

And if you prefer to work with a homoeopath here , for financial reasons , whatever, then go into as much detail as you can about the latent issues. I am sure that therein lies your answer.

SUPRESS subconsious stress???? This is the opposite way from the homoeopathy treats illness, and can only make matters (including yr acne) worse. Don't supress dtowngirl, get it all out...

Also, sorry just noticed something else - why the hydrocortisone cream ? Do you have eczema also? Don't put steroids on your skin if you can help it, thins the skin. Under homoeopathic treatment, practitioners don't really like all the topical ointments etc on skin as this is exit point, lympahtic .. , so keep skincare really simple ...

Can you get hold of very unmedicated, non-comedogenic, non-perfumed etc etc brands for sensitive skin eg.Simple in UK ? and get into a routine with your skin so you don't exacerbate the situation by over-drying the skin (tea tree is pretty heavy duty when it comes to drying the skin btw)..

I have been seeing a therapist and really working on some of the deeper issues, but I still struggle with stress and sleep. I'm not sure about the hydrocortisone cream, I read somewhere that it helped with inflammation, but I will stop using it. i used to use a mild cleanser, Cetaphil, but switched over to the expensice acne products. Maybe simple is better and I should really simplify my routine. Thanks for you suggestions!!

I could not get the wet dose Arnica 30c in the States, but did find the 30c pellets. Will these work as well as the wet dose. Also, how would I go about using the pellets for topical application?
