Maitake, Gonoderma are almost same. In tradetional Chineese and Japaneese medicine these are used often, mostly to tone the body.
You should try it? No harm in trying. Available everywhere, grows everywhere even in snow or deserts of India after rains.
In Punjab we call it gidderkakkar, fund under trees in winter.
Problem is that, it is sold very expansive under fancy exotic names but found on the ground.
