The ABC Homeopathy Forum

My Quirky Approach

Greets to all,

I appreciate everyone's responses to me on my previous posts and I thought I would share my eccentric healing philosophy:

I appreciate and respect trained classical homeopathy practictioners, all practioners of the healing arts, phys., medical personnel etc. I defend and applaud the freedom of people to decide and choose their individual paths.

I have found that different things work for me at different times. When I started using homeopathy: after reading a couple of books on it: I just started using whatever I was 'drawn' to on a 'gut' level. For some reason, when I 'need' a certain remedy, vitamin, supplement, whatever, the cells in my body become real excited and I don't know how to describe it, but it is almost as if they are reaching out for 'whatever it is.' & I follow that 'instinct' or 'intuition'. I believe that the cells in my body have a knowledge as to what they need and if I listen to them, they will lead me to what it is they require for balance.

When I started using homeopathy, I would make up my own combinations based on this cellular response I have, or sometimes I would be drawn to a single remedy.

As I became aware of more healing modalities I started incorporating other systems. Now: Sometimes I use bach flower, sometimes I use cell salts, sometimes I use homeopathy, sometimes I use vitamins or herbal supplements, sometimes I use reiki, sometimes I pray, once I even used an antibiotic :-) and it worked just fine.

It really just depends. & that is my approach with family who are ammenable to my 'therapies', it depends on whatever it is that first 'pops' into my brain or whatever cellular stimulation I feel when I am presented with a situation.

Since I am an RN in a traditional medical practice hospital, my approach at work depends entirely on the patient. I respond to what it is that the patient needs within the scope of nursing practice. Now, as a person, I can share other healing philosophies with patients who are open or who are already using other modalities. And, I make it very clear if I am speaking as a nurse or just as a person who has some experience with other approaches. I tailor my approach to the patient AND I have absolutely no problemo with patients who choose to do exactly as their dr. says. After all... it is THEIR experience not mine. Everyone is entitled to their unique experience.

I have had patients tell me that they believed they felt better whenever I came into the room. I make NO claims and if someone is open they will receive benefits that flow not just through me but through anyone who chooses to be a conduit for healing energies.

Which, imo, energy just is and regardless of whatever we attempt to label it, it remains: energy.

My approach is not for everyone nor do I presume to know what someone else should do. My approach works for me and IT DEPENDS ;-) I do not presume it will work for others. Whatever it is I do, it is purely spontaneous, I don't question it when it relates to me and my family.

When I was a child living at home in the process of growing up... my mother had a distinct dislike of drs. and only went to them as absolutely necessary when she no longer was able to figure out how to restore balance to herself or my sister and me. Her #1 cure for a number of years was plain yogurt. I think after once or twice of gagging on that, I decided I'd better not get sick. She also relied on vitamins and lined them up for us every morning at breakfast. I remember taking: calcium, slippery elm, and vitamin C. I know she tried mightily and unsuccessfully to convince us of the palatability of brewer's yeast mixed in fresh squeezed oj.

As a child, I yearned for the day when I could decide on my own that I could go to the dr. any time I wanted. And I yearned for the ability to take an antibiotic whenever I had a cold. ;-) I thought my mother so old-fashioned and out of touch with all the new wonders of science and medicine.

Once I left home and started my own family, I found myself searching for information on how to 'heal' without outside authority. I wanted my own authority over myself and family.

Needless to say, I am eternally thankful, I was exposed to another approach as a child, even though I rejected it as mightily as it was presented ;-)

In closing:
I am appreciative this forum exists.
Thank you all for being here.
