Sulfur = Sulfa??

Hi, I've been having an acne flare up and I was interested in trying some homeopathic remedies. However, it seems that sulfur is what is recommended. I am allergic to sulfa medications, so I am a bit leary of trying this. Are they the same thing? or can someone who is allergic to sulfa meds successfully take homeopathic sulfur since it's so minute? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Sulfa is a nick name for sulfonamides, which are a family of derivatives of para-amino benzoic acid.

Sulfur, (or sulphur in the UK), is very different.

DR. RECKEWEG's R 53, ACNE DROPS.
As per dosage on wrapper.

Also take SULPHUR 200C one dose every week. On the day you take this, avoid taking R 53.

If other remedies fail to help, you may try Arnica M 30 which I have found to stop an outbreak of Acne. Arnica can also be used for Styes on the eyelids.

The dosage is 4 No 40 pillules (smaller than a peppercorn) taken twice daily. It may be necessary to use this remedy over a long period in your case, say for 3 months, as it will provide prophylactic cover and prevent the pimples flaring up often.

If you find that your pimples dry out within a fortnight after you start on Arnica 30, you can reduce the dose to just once daily, taken preferably at night , as Arnica also helps in promoting restful sleep.

The average human body contains approx 200 grams of sulfur. Foods are a rich source of dietary sulfur. Sulfur-containing foods include fish, poultry, eggs, milk, legumes, onions, garlic, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and turnips. If you get an MSM (organic sulfur) supplement without additives it is not possible to be allergic to it. Rich's MSM and OptiMSM from Cardinal Nutrition are both pure MSM. If you have an abnormally high amount of candida (yeast)in your system it is possible to experience a "die off" effect, (symptoms include rash, lethargy) as the overabundance of fungi is killed. This is easily avoided by taking MSM with Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) so that the body can flush out the toxins. I recommend equal amounts of Vitamin C ALWAYS be taken with MSM. If you have diabetes, MSM may lessen your need for insulin. Check with your doctor.

I have found that a particular Natural Mud Pack gave me relief from my Acne and Pimples, without taking any medicines and in fact I took medicines for the above problem for nearly 5 years.. If you visit "(www.naturalmudpack.com)", some details are available. It is not a medicine but something very natural that worked for me.

I have used the Sulphur 30C successfully for acne, it drew them right out, a bit unsightly at first but they didn't stay long.
