Rhus tox

Is anyone aware of any side effects of rhus tox?

  Alexander on 2004-10-12
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
homeo medicines when taken as per the laid out procedure are abosuletly safe.

bandarbabu2000 last decade
it should read "absolutely.'

Being new to homeopathics, the only prescriptive advice came from a brief info blurb at the supplement store and what was written on the bottle, neither of which indicated any side effect concerns. So, to rephrase the question...what can the side effects of rhus tox be, and what increases the chance of these side effects occuring?

What for you want to take Rhustox?

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Inflammation due to osteoarthritis in back and knee.

Alexander last decade
Ok.You can try Rhustox 30.Take three doses, morning, evening and again morning.

Report back. You may have to give more details,if Rhustox doesn't help.

Three doses taken as suggested, will not have any side effects.

If you are new to homeopathy,it is important to check if Rhus Tox is the correct medicine for you.

Kindly post your osto-arthiritis sympotms in detail for some-one knowledgeable to analyse and guide you.

Just an example, does your condition aggravate during the rainy season??

Do you have pain in the left knee??

Best,

A couple of weeks ago I took rhus tox for back problems that I knew weren't sciatica or muscle related. Since the problem was localized in my sacrum, and wasn't an obvious result of injury, the diagnosis was that it was arthritis. Upon reading scant info available at the supplement store, I tried rhus tox, and within 3 days the back pain was virtually gone. So, it appears to have been a lucky but right call. Several days later, at the end of a back workout at the gym, I noticed discomfort in the kidney area of my back, which promptly went away after a cardio workout. Since I hadn't experienced anything like that prior, I wondered if rhus tox might have played a role in sensitizing that area. So, are there any known side effects of rhus tox?
Thanks for the help thus far...

Alexander last decade
If you get a new symptom, for a brief period, which is already recorded as one, capable of being produced by the medicine ,then you are sensitive to the medicine, and it will help you.

So, now we have to see whether"discomfort in the kidney area of back" is covered by Rhustox or not.

I will check up and let you know in the evening.

Thanks Pankaj and Murthy. I can have significant knee pain, but have it controlled with glucosamine in various combinations, a brace and exercise. I would still like to know about side effects in general though...is there a site that identifies such?
Gratefully,
Alexander

when new symptom occur (never had before in life)after administering a remedy, then possible new remedy is indicated.and original remedy is only superficially homoeopathic to case symptom totality...

.also when using rhus-tox --coffee;alcoholic beverages;breads (levened);cheese;cold foods;tea;sour foods --as well acidic foods in general--will/may give rise to aggravted symptomology when used--and are best avoided when under treatment with rhus-t......

Dear Murthy ...I meant no offence to you.

I waited till you had sent in all your guidance.....however, was concerned that Alexander had correctly chosen R.T. or not.

Alexander,

Kindly tell me that the pain is in the right knee or the left knee or both !!

It is important!

The emergence of pain in the kidney area could be due to Rhus tox working on you. Which is a good thing ...and should subside in 2/3 days.

If Rhus Tox is right for you, it might also throw up some skin rashes. Don't panic....those would subside too and give you a long term cure!

Best,

Dear Pankaj

I never felt that way.I really meant you to take charge.

The way Alexander started the topic,is a bit surprising, and I wanted to match his wits.

That's all.

I have one request.

I need a person like you to guide me,in selection of medicines, and the logic behind the selection.

If I use this forum for this purpose, many others also will get benefitted.

I would like to be your "Sishya"

Warm regards

Murthy

Again, thanks to all for the responses. The knee pain is left only and due to several surgeries over the years to repair cartilage tears. The experts consider the knee a prime candidate for a partial replacement, which I hope to delay indefinitely. Given the list of foods that might react to rhus tox, is it advised that this remedy be administered npo?
Gratefully,
Alexander

Alexander last decade
What is npo?

bandarbabu2000 last decade
npo is medical jargon which means nothing by mouth. Prior to many kinds of lab tests or surgeries, patients are advised to eat or drink nothing for a given time period. It sounded like rhus tox might perform better on an empty stomach.

Alexander last decade
it's not a nutrient- it doesn't care what you have in your stomach.
However your mouth should be free of any food "leftovers" that's why it's a good idea not to eat for some time before you take it.
And after you take it it's also a good idea not to eat for some time because you need your energy for healing not for digestion.

One more caution.

Don't take cold showers as long as Rhustox is working.(may be a few days.)Avoid getting wet.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
what will happen if cold shower is taken?please explain (not that i disagree)

HI ALEXANDER !
If you have consulted a good homeoapth for taking Rhus Tox it is okay.

Otherwise, I still haven't figured out how you chose to take Rhus Tox.

If you post your "head to toe" symptoms and history of illness....we can help !

Even if you are sure of your own analysis, no harm taking a second opinion ...since you are new to homeopathy.

Best,
Pankaj Varma

Cold showers may interfere with the action of the medicine. You may not get the desired result.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
No worries about cold showers...no need nor desire. As to consulting a homeopath, I don't know of any, and only stumbled upon these remedies while perusing the supplement section of my local natural foods store. With each homeopathic item...arnica montana, rhus tox etc, there was a brief description of what each should be used for. So, Panjak, I decided upon rhus tox by self-diagnosis and the description of its use posted at the supplement store. It is nice to know food intake is not supposed to be much of an issue. I still can't find any studies on side effects like one would find for drugs...are there none documented?

Dear Alexander

You have to come out of the allopathic mindset.

There are no side effects for homeo medicines, that is why you won't find them anywhere.

However,if you use them indiscriminately, they are capable of spoiling your health. They are energy medicines, and reach the deepest parts of your body, including your mind.

For self medication, you should know,at least some basic concepts about homeopathy. There are many sights on the net, which tell you about the basics.

pl.go through them.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Rhus tox . Rheumatism wih stiffness worse Ist motion, worse during rainy season, better when continued walking.

Bryonia . Joints are red, hot, swollen. Pain worse last motion better after rest, pressure.

The above symptoms of the above are called side effects. In homeopathy we call them proving symtpoms. When Rhus tox was given, the above symptoms (side effects) were produced.

In potentised form also, if you give rhus tox 30 for long time then above symptoms will again produce.
