Depression/Anxiety Help

I have recently discovered Homeopathy treatment after 5 yrs of suffering from generalized anxiety disorder (with panic attacks) and cronic depression. I was taking prozac (20 mg) for the past two years and I'm sick of conventional meds. I have four girls and cannot keep up because the medicatinos make me tired.

I started to treat myself but I think I need some guidance to make sure I'm doing this correctly and that I'm selecting the correct meds/dosages for me -I think the most confusing is the dosages! There is no homeopathic or natural doctors in my area so it's not like I can go to one and get treatment.

The first thing I tried, while still on prozac was sepia 30c three times a day. I phased out the prozac slowly and seemed to feel better than I did on prozac so I kept taking sepia 6c three times a day for several days. That seemed to work really well, however in the past few days, my anxiety level has creeped up and started to cause me to freak out again.

My anxiety consists of: fear of dying suddenly, fear of dying from heart disease (father has heart disease) chest pain and tightness, heart palpatations, constantly checking my pulse to make sure my heart rate isn't irratic (somewhat obessive/compulsive), and I can't seem to figure out what remedy i should try that would work best.

Also, on a side note, if I want to treat more than one condition, is it ok to take several homeopathy treatments at once or should I only treat one item at a time? (EX: I'm treating depression and I need to treat a cold - do i stop the treatment for depression to treat the cold?)

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
in most cases, only one remedy is required to treat all your symptoms. if the remedy is chosen well, it will cure all your chronic problems. you might still have some acute short lived ailments but those also would not be of high intensity and would be cured easily by your own immunity.

please put down all your details in the questionnair provided.

I have completed the questions below. thanks for your help!

please put down all your details in the questionnaire provided.

Patient ID: Sex: F Age: 35

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering? Anxiety/Depression

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

heart palpitations, varying chest pain (sometimes squeezing feeling, other times sharp, stabbing pain), difficulty breathing sometimes, dizzy, light headed at times. Also recent weight gain and bloated feeling (not sure if it is related but I put it anyway).

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

Feelings of sadness with bouts of crying (self loathing, feel sorry for myself), fright, extreme fear of sudden death, fear of heart attack, Obsession with health, specifically with heart that is overwhelming at times. Easily agitated and irritable some days.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?

Sometimes very anxious and fear of death, other times its extreme sadness with crying.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event, or disease?

The depression has been ongoing ever since I was a teenager. I did have some bouts of bulimia and obsessive compulsive disorder that went away without treatment when I was around 16. I never received help until I was older (wasn't aware of what was wrong). I think that most of it stems from being adopted and being verbally and physically abused as a child by my adoptive parents. The anxiety started in 2001, after having a lot of stress in my job and after taking welbutrin for about 6 months to quit smoking. I ended up in the hospital at 30 thinking I was having a heart attack. I started having panic attacks almost daily for about a month and the doctor prescribed zoloft and ativan for the anxiety (zoloft did nothing so I stopped taking it and only took ativan for attacks). It slowed down for quite a while and then the panic attacks peaked again in the winter of 2002 then i went on effexor xr until I became pregnant in 2003 and had to go off of it.

During my pregnancy I was fine the entire time until the baby was about 4 months old, then I started having severe heart palpitations with rapid heart beat and the doctor put me on welbutrin (I didn't want to go on it because I think it was what caused my attacks to start in the first place but the doctor ignored me). I was on that for about 6 months and I became pregnant again in 2004 and went off of it but it did seem to get my system back to normal while I took it. I was fine for the first few months, then I started having anxiety attacks again. The obgyn put me on prozac which I have been taking up until about three weeks ago when I started taking the sepia.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

There isn't any specific time of day that it is worse.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?

Stress aggravates the situation, nothing seems to make it better (try relaxing, deep breathing, meditating, massage, etc, but none seem to work)

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

I think it has more to do with biological changes in the body, the irritability and agitation get worse before menses.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

Never noticed, I don't think it has any effect that I'm aware of.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

VERY Moody, Nervous, easily offended, irritable, arguing, fatigued alot.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?

Usually tense and frightened when it starts but as it goes on I calm down.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? No I prefer to be left alone. I would lock myself in a room by myself if I could.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?

Loud noise is irritating (EX: babies screaming, crying a lot gets me irritated).

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?

Sometimes burst into tears when it gets to be too much, play with hair a lot (not twisting or twirling, will run my fingers through it alot)

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

I like my friends and family but sometimes get irritated with them, especially when they say or do stupid things. I love my husband but I also tend to get very irrational and irritable with him when he doesn't respond to me, or doesn't help around the house. I have an aversion towards sex (I use to love it when I was younger) but the thought of having sex with him most of the time is repulsive.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

Fear of death, specifically of not being there for my children. I do not have any reoccurring dreams.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

Chocolate, cheese, crunchy, salty foods.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Excessive at times.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? Not that I am aware of.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

Normal usually trunk.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

Normal, firm about once every other day.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

I sleep too well, sometimes I could sleep 10+ hours. I tend to sleep on my back, with my arms over my head or on my side.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? Not at all

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? I feel I am more emotional and less desirable than other people.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

Welbutrin – (to stop smoking) panic attacks started after taking this medication.
Zoloft – for depression/anxiety (no effect)
Effexor XR for depression/anxiety
Welbutrin again (against my better judgment) for depression/anxiety
Prozac for depression/anxiety

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

Heart disease, cancer, alcoholism (biological father has alcoholism, heart disease, had cancer and doctors were never able to find the source although he is in remission now)

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.

Tall, Thick, dark blonde/light brown wavy/curly hair (tends to be very dry), pale skin with some dark discoloration from pregnancy and light acne, not skinny, but not overweight either, look younger than my age but with some gray hair (mother turned gray at 18), I have a dry patch of skin on my upper right underside arm. My skin overall tends to be dry.

cchamberland,

the remedy which is coming up considering the etiology and totality of the symptoms is NAT MUR.

please take 3 doses of NAT MUR 200c at 4 hours interval on any ONE DAY.

note your symptoms for the next 2 to 3 weeks and come back for a follo up dose if required.

best wishes,

I think you should also keep in mind that perhaps Sepia was the right remedy but that you were taking too much of it. You say that it worked 'really well.' But how many days were you taking it three times a day? Do you know that eventually, if you keep taking it, that things will begin to go downhill? Sooner for some people, later for others. When one is taking low doses on a daily basis, one has to know when to give it a rest for a few days, perhaps more. Luc De Schepper has written very well on this. As a general introduction, his book Human Condition Critical is excellent. In it he discusses how to take low dose remedies like 6c. His book Hahnemann Revisited was written for professionals.

Thanks for all the help. That was one of my concerns with the Sepia, I'm definately not a pro at this and the dosing and how long to take it is somewhat confusing. I am going to try the NAT MUR just to see if there is any improvement but if that doesn't work and I go back to using the Sepia,I will check out the book you mentioned.

SEPIA will help you after NAT MUR.

NAT MUR will take out the disease if it is actually causes due to the insults, abuse and resulting grief you have gone through.

later, if your symptoms match to that of SEPIA, it will help you to straighten any hormonal irregularity of the body.

Thanks! If I find that I do need to take the Sepia again, what is the correct dosage and length I should take it?

cchamberland last decade
just take 3 doses of SEPIA 200C on any one day at 4 hours interval.

It has been 1 week since I took the NAT MUR and I am totally AMAZED. Prior to taking it I was getting pretty bad (very aggitated, crying, etc) but about 1 day after the dosage, 99% of my symptoms were gone (heart palpitations, crying spells, feeling overwelmed, etc.) I am more relaxed, not freaking out and feel much better. I have also started to lose weight! I had forgotten about the dry scaly patch of skin on my arm until today - I checked it and it was completely GONE. I am definately a beliver in homeopathy now!

I have read that some people have to take multiple doses because their symptoms return. If my symptoms start to return, should I just do the same dosage again?

cchamberland last decade
NAT MUR requires some repetition. if the symptoms return, you should take NAT MUR 1M two doses at 6 hours interval. thats all.

even then the symptoms return, you will take just one dose of NAT MUR 10M.

thanks for the update anyway. feels good.
