Azoospermia and Varicocele

Hello,

I am writing for my husband who was diagnosed with unobstructed azoospermia. He is 49 years old and currently has zero sperm. We've been married 17 years. When we initially went for infertility testing years ago, we discovered that he had low sperm count and varicocele. Eventually, through the years, the sperm count went to zero.

We tried all the vitamins (c, zinc, selenium, etc.). We tried herbal conconctions that included dry skink and various spices. We also did two sperm extraction operations with two ivf's with icsi. On the first try, we froze sperm from the TESE. Then when it came time for the IVF, they couldnt find any sperm in the defrosted vials. Then we did a fresh TESE and ivf with icsi. On that day, they found only one sperm, with no tail or neck and a big head.

The urologist says that the unobstructed azoomspermia is a result of elevated FSH and did not recommend a varicocle procedure.

My husband is 6 feet, 275 lbs. He has kypohis in his back. When he was 4, he had his tonsils removed and might have had some radiation at that time.

Earlier this year, the doctors discovered a tumor in his thyroid. His left lobe was removed and the tumor was benign.

He also has high cholesterol. His brother is also infertile but we do not know why. He also has cousins with infertility problems, but we do not know the details.

What do you advise to restore sperm count?

Thank you, Jude

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I would like to add that his testicles are a little smaller than average (according to doctor). He is frequently tired. He also has a soft erection and premature ejaculation, losing all interest when complete. He also has decreased sexual desire.

thanks, JAK, Jude.
