Urgent -- 2 yr old with sudden high fever

hi,

my 2 year old is running fever of 102, it came on at night and has been 12 hours now. skin very hot, radiating heat especially extremeties which are burning. he is happy not very lethargic but a little tired. thirst/appetite normal, not excessive or very low. no other symptoms really, have tried a few doses of bella last night and aconite 30 this morning but it hasn't helped. had a cold last week and still has some residual green thick nasal discharge, not that congested though.

it is very hot here at the moment 100 deg fah and our air conditioning is being fixed so suspect heat may have been the cause.

greatly appreciate any help, thanks

Thanks Sameer

I tried belladonna 30 last night. Should I try it again?

The fever hasnt gone down at all despite compresses and lots of liquid. He is a little cranky but still has lots of energy eg jumping on bed, singing. Throat seems sore and he has a little cough

Thanks again

Hmm.. I did not notice you had already tried Bell.

Try a couple of doses of Puls.

If Puls too fails to relieve give him a single dose of sulphur 200c.

102 is nothing to worry about as long as the child is active. Don't give too many medicines too frequently. Fever is an attempt of the body to get rid of the accumulated toxins and as long as it is tolerable it is better to wait it out.

hello,

puls didn't help either -- i have sulph 30 but not 200 unfortunately, will take a day or so to get it. fever is still 102, has been 36 hours now. took him to the dr, looks like it's a result of a sore throat, it's red and she said he has a small vesicle on the right side which made her think it is the coxsackievirus. he has a slight cough (dry)

i know fever isn't necessarily a bad sign but none of the usual home remedies is bringing the fever down and it has been almost 2 days with not a single degree of difference in the temperature.

thanks for any help

he was also complaining of stomach ache this morning although no diarrhoea.

thanks again

I think you can get it down through allopathic means.

Sometimes it is just not worth it trying so many remedies in an acute ailment.

Hepar Sulph perhaps?

srisri last decade
thanks but fever is the one thing i wouldn't want to treat allopathically unless v seriously high.

srisri, thanks for your suggestion, my son is a very hot individual in general and not chilly at all even during this episode, wouldn't that contraindicate hepar sulp?

the fever is down now but a lot of coughing and irritability. he is still in good spirits so unless things change God forbid, will let the rest of it ride itself out

thanks all

As u mentioned that patient is hot sulphur can help him.
An intercurrent sometimes clears the way for other right medicine. However i prefer to give Sulphur in 3oc just one dose and wait for the upcoming symptoms.
