Alcohol remedy

My mom drinks a lot, wants to stop but I am not sure if you can call her an alcoholic since she can go days without drinking when she has something to do. Either way, she has a problem and I've read many remedies for alchol, but not sure which one is the best? Can someone please tell me which remedy works best and how long she should take it.
