recurring infection in three year old

My daughter is 3 years 3 months. She is very easy going and normally is a happy child. She had her first ear infection when she turned 3 (on right ear). Not sure why; maybe because she started swimming. Two months later, another one on the same ear (right), two weeks later another one on the left ear. We were given Amoxillin at all times. It helped but the infection started again. We went to see a specialist who suggested that there are only two options: do nothing or do the tubes. Now she has pain at night only; she behaves well during the day, totally normal. We give her Ibuprofen for the pain if she complains and she sleeps well after that.
