Lith Carbonicum instead of Lithicarb?

Hi!

My father in law is 65 year old. He takes Lithicarb for mood stabilization (unipolar depression), because all the other antidepressants (Citalopram, Coaxil) failed. I knew that above 65 year lithium is not so recommended, its risky. he takes pills from 6 month and I wonder if we could not substitute or complete this with the homeopathic Lithium carbonicum... Could this have the same effect? (Lithicarb looks like to not be enough for now, he is complaining (again) about anxiety, moody, tension). I was thought, that it's not sure theat he has the right diagnosis, that's why antidepressants does'nt work, I suspect well compensated paranoia.
I expect sgugestions, opinions with thanks!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
There are lots of side-effects of lithium. When anybody take this drug,he/she should do the liver function test at 3 months interval.Because lithium can damage liver.Elderly people usually have weak liver. At this stage lithium may be dangerous for your father.Homeopathic lithicarb is not indicated remedy for your father. You can choose constitutional remedy according to the symptoms of your father. That can help your father for complete recovery.
