morning attack outta nowhere

I woke one morning to a throat that felt as though I swallowed something sharp and it cut me. It followed with thick green mucous. No fever, no headache. Only the runny nose and gross cough. Lasted about more than a week. Maybe a month later its begun again. I have a sore throat and expell green goo. My nose runs a little but still no fatigue or fever. I have a very mild headache that may be related to pot smoking. I am inclined to blame allergies. Not a virus. Please help
