How long for 200c to take effect?

Hello all,

Looking for some general advice here. I've taken one night/morning/night dose of Staphisagria and planning to take the same of Ruta Grav at some point. Roughly how long would I need to leave the Staph to work before moving on to Ruta?

The problem I'm treating is a tendon strain in the pelvic region, caused by weight training 6 yrs ago. Despite doing regular deep tissue massage and stretching the scar tissue never really improved.

A few weeks ago I pulled the muscle again, and it was very painful, anti inflamitories had little effect. As well as trying acupressure points, I also took 30c of remedies recommended for scar tissue. I took each one once a or twice a day for a week, and the only one that had an effect was Staphisagria.

I know that 200c is considered a high potency but I felt I needed to go deeper and I can't remember having any significant aggravations with any homoeopathic remedies in the past - they either work for me quickly or do nothing at all - for example Rhus Tox 30c for a knee injury cleared up the stiffness in about 10 minutes. I'm moving onto the Ruta Grav 200c because it's a tendon remedy and the other symptoms are such a strong match for mine. In the past I've damaged other tendons and according to TCM my tendon problems are a constitutional issue, so a higher potency seems appropriate.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
200c is only a medium level potency (we go as high as 1 million), and 1000 is not uncommon to see prescribed in chronic complaints and some very intense acutes.

If Staph has helped you, why do you not want to pursue the treatment to see if it cures you?

How have you taken the remedy? (pillules, water etc)

How often have you taken the remedy?

What was the specific and detailed reaction to it?

What symptoms do you have that suggest Staph will not do any further work for you?

Ruta is not a 'tendon' remedy - our remedies all have the ability to work on any location. Even just a quick look in our materia medicas for Tendonitis (as an example) shows 73 remedies listed. Injury to tendons shows 34 remedies, and I am sure that there are many that could suit different individuals.

The doses of 200c were 1 pillule Friday night and Friday morning, one Saturday night, one Sunday night.

The other remedies tried for a week each at 30c, two pillules one to three times a day were
1. Calc Flour.
2. Calendula.
3. Arnica.

Then I tried Staphisagaria, but only took one dose a day because I was about to give up on homoeopathy for this problem. During that week I felt a lot better meaning the pain in the pelvic region was dramatically reduced, but I attributed that to a specific combination of acupressure points I was working on. Thinking acupressure was working I stopped taking the Staph 30c, and three days later the pelvic pain came back and stayed until I took one pillule of 30c again for two days. Because the pain had come back so quickly I thought a higher potency worth a try. The 200c Staph does appear to be working.

I picked Ruta Grav as a tendon remedy from the book 'Homeopathy for the family' which I bought 25 yrs ago and have found very useful over the years. It suggests two remedies for tendon problems, Rhus Tox, which has often helped me with muscle problems in the past, and which I've used to cure two cats of Arthritis. elixirs com suggests Ruta Grav for eyestrain above the eyebrow, which I've had for the last 3 months, and hip/sciatic pain which has accompanied my pelvic pain.

My thinking was that I would try the 200c Staph because it has reduced the pain so I can do deep tissue massage. The 200c Ruta may help while I try to break down the scar tissue. If the worst of the pain comes back I'll go back to Staph 200c and if it works again try a higher potency. If I can't feel any improvement with Ruta within a week I'll reckon it's not the right one. Is that about right for a 200c?

Thanks for your time and hope this makes sense.

Firstly, it is important to understand that you have not had any homoeopathic treatment yet. Certainly you could give up on the method you have been trying, but it is not the homoeopathic method.

All remedies, for chronic complaints, must be chosen on the basis of the individual symptoms of the patient, NOT the name of the condition or situation. A medicine is only homoeopathic, if it is prescribed homoeopathically.

Once a problem has moved out of being acute (true acute which means in homoeopathy not caused by any weakness or susceptibility of the patient but something purely external) into chronic (powered by the person's own internal mechanisms for creating symptoms) then those first aid and emergency manuals become more or less useless.

Prescribing on the basis of just the name of the problem rarely changes the chronic tendency, and this is what you need to do.

The only reason to use any remedy is because it specifically matches the peculiar and individual symptoms of the patient for the chronic problem (this often counts for acute illnesses as well such as infections). It is quite possible that you need none of the medicines listed under tendons or injury, but something more suited to you as an individual.
