Query regarding Ignatia

Hi, I wonder if anybody out there can help me.

I have been struggling hugely for 2 years following the break up of a relationship. The main symptom of this depression has been crying, feeling worthless, everything is meaningless etc. I have recently been prescribed ignatia (6c twice a day Mon-Fri, and 30 c twice a day Sat & Sun). I started taking the ignatia about a week ago.

I have found in the last few days that I have been crying even more than usual. I am unsure whether this is related to the ignatia (an aggravation?) or because of recent upsetting events that have happened in the last couple of days also, relating to my break up.

However, my question is regarding clarity of thought. I felt the lowest that I have felt in a long time for the last couple of days. Crying a huge amount, and feeling suicidal even. But today, I seem to have had a bit of a shift in thought. For the first time ever I realised that I hadn't been grieving the loss of our relationship per se, but had instead been focusing on everything else surrounding it (how could he leave me etc etc). This seems quite momentous and I wonder if any of this (the massive crying, the shift in thinking) could be related to the ignatia?

Thanks in advance...

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It could be an aggravation. When symptoms worsen, it is a sign to stop the remedy. An aggravation is often the first sign that a remedy is beginning to work to improve the situation. An aggravation can last anywhere up to a week for many people, but there should be a 'push back' in the opposite direction (towards balance) after a short while.

If it is just your own natural ups and downs, there will be no improvement of course. It is hard to say at this point what is happening - if there is an explaination for your feelings being stirred up, then that could just as easily be the reason.

At any rate, stopping the medicine would be the correct step at this point.

Thank you for your response.

It is difficult to say what the reasoning to feeling worse has been. However, if I stop taking the ignatia now, does that not mean that i will not know whether there is a 'push back' or not? If it is an aggravation, which as you said is often the first sign that the remedy is working, surely I should continue to take it?

Thanks again for your advice - really look forward to hearing from you.

The push back towards balance or health happens after the aggravation, but if you keep taking it, you don't allow that to happen because you keep 'enforcing' the effect of the ignatia (to worsen your symptoms).

Aggravation is always a clear indication to stop, otherwise you can create side effects, which can sometimes be permanent.

Homoeopathic remedies work like a catalyst to create a chain reaction of events. Once that reaction starts, continually repeating the remedy only adds the the strength of that 'explosion' but it also incurs a cost, and it is not necessary to pay it. Law of the Minimum Dose in homoeopathy, one of our most basic principles, states 'Only give enough to create a change'.
