Mysterious itchiness assoc w/ Mono?

and the doctors I've seen seem to just diagnose it as "urticaria" without much of a look.

I developed an intensely itchy bumpy rash around both my ankles after I thought I felt bug bites. The rash progressed and spread up my legs over the next two weeks (I scratched a lot!)to hard little bumps with a purplish tinge to them. When I began to get hives on my neck and my eyelids became grainy and discolored, I went to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with Mono. I was very surprised, as I was mainly suffering from the rash and generally feelig prickly and awful.

It's been two weeks and I feel much better but the rash around my ankles and to some extent around my legs is still very itchy and present. The hives look and feel different from the rash, and I still feel hivey, thought it doesn't come out unless I scrach.

Has anyone heard of a reaction like this to Mononucleosis/bug bites or any combination thereof?

I've never had an allergic reaction to anything, just recurrent bronchitis, but there is definitely something wrong with my skin.

Any thoughts are very appreciated!

Yes.The rash began on the back and shoulders and itched a lot. Took four or five days to get relieved. Told that this can occur with mono.
