ADHD/Marijuana

Howdy all. Although I have never been officially diagnosed, I strongly believe I have ADHD. I am rarely impulsive (but can be) - my main problem is my complete and total lack of an attention span. I have to be completely engrossed in something before I can pay attention to it for more than a few seconds. It's gotten to the point now where it's seriously starting to affect my career because I work on autopilot, doing the work without any thought, and I end up making mistakes. I feel very "spaced out" all the time; as though I don't have a full perception of reality. It's hard to describe and the only thing I can compare it to is that dreamlike feeling of not being fully "with it" after having a few drinks. I suspect the two symptoms are related - I don't feel fully with it, so I don't concentrate on things. I smoked marijuana once when I was younger and I believe that was when I started feeling like this permanently.

I came across a site with remedies for ADHD, and one of them was "Cannabis indica". Not all of the indications apply to me but the part about those who "feel spacy, confused, and inattentive; have time and space disorientation; fear going insane; feel like everything is a dream with even familiar things which seem strange or unreal (derealization); act as if in a dream or off in space; can't pay attention for long" seems very familiar. The site says it's for those whose parents smoked marijuana excessively. Does anyone know if it also applies for those who smoked it themselves? Or I might be on completely the wrong track - does anyone have any other ideas? I'd appreciate any thoughts.

A few more details:
I can't tolerate milk, it makes me congested and sometimes gives me headaches. MSG/artificial flavourings give me headaches and a caffeine-like feeling, and I suspect they make the "spaced out" feeling worse. I had a NAET practitioner eliminate my allergies to milk, artificial flavourings and grains but it has only made a minor difference in my tolerance to them. I'm sensitive to sunlight and heat, I suffer from depression, anxiety, self-hatred, despair, lonliness, feelings of worthlessness, self-sabotage, I find it difficult to get to sleep and I usually wake up during the night and can't sleep in very late.

I'd appreciate any ideas anyone has. :)

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Actually I just read more about that cannabis remedy from this site and it doesn't seem like me. I don't get hallucinations or anything, I just feel very confused, spaced out and disoriented. And my thoughts are very rapid and can be repeating and obsessive.

Well Heebie, you don't have to have all of the symptoms in a remedy to have it help you.
It sounds as if Cann Ind might do.
Although there are at least a few more remedies I could think of. ADHD has many remedies in Homeopathy. After the sixties and seventies onslaught, I have given it to quite a few people who have had their minds cleared up with this remedy, and they tell me they only smoked once. Many times or once only, it don't matter.
If you choose to take it, do so in a 1m dose once in the AM once in the PM, same day. You may find that you are still ADHD (if at all) but it may be that its easier to spot the best remedy for you.
Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Are you able to point me in the right direction of where I can get the stuff? I can't seem to find it through any online homeopathic pharmacies. :S

I just had a look on this site and whaddayaknow! they don't supply this. There seems to be a gradual phasing out of remedies the govt deems dangerous, while claiming Hpathy doesn't work. There is a pharmacy in New Zealand that does have it.
B.K. Moore Pharmacy
254 Lincoln Rd Henderson Auckland N.Z. Ph 098368576
However you will have to check the number as it may have changed.
Best of luck.

One thing I didn't find out is how long I should take the remedy for. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Take 1M once a week. Thats 5-6 drops or 2-3 small pills. Use it when needed. Usually people can tell. These remedies are not like drugs that have to be repeated for effect, once only may do the trick.

Dear All,

I have just read this interesting topic on ADHD and marijuana. I am ADHD too, diagnose lately at 34 year old. My symptoms are impulsivity and anxiety. I use pot for 14 years and have prescription for 1 year in netherlands pharmacy. Things are moving slowly in Europe too :-)

With a few patients, we built the following plateform in order to keep the most up to date web site on ADHD and the benefits of cannabinoids.

It is for anyone who is interested in looking more closely to the scientific publications. There is also interesting videos.

Very Best Health and Peace to you.
